The only thing that was a little inconvenient is that they don’t offer bottled water for free but you can refill a bottle with tap water at the restaurant. We also couldn’t exchange money because they don’t really offer that service so we had to go to the bank a couple of times during our stay.

This is a gorgeous property! There is an amazing view of Arenal, the restaurant area is beautiful, the pool and pool bar are an amazing touch, and the rooms are so spacious and clean. It’s definitely more on the modest side but the staff takes such great care of the property so you’ll see fruit trees and tons of plants and flowers as you walk around.

Screaming children at a pool bar. Super cheap furniture. Lights didn't work, wifi cut in and out every 20 seconds. Dinner was awful. Drinks weren't made by a proper bartender. Windows not sealed allowing bugs and fun insects to crawl in. ZERO bell hop service. A random private pool on front of the entrance that wasn't warm or private.

restaurant - super expensive and not good quality food. restaurant is gloomy could do with some brightening up? room - our room smelt like mould, was gloomy. had mould on the shower & wasn’t the cleanest place. the cleaners did do a good job with making the room better daily. we didn’t have water one morning before our tour which is awful but when we got back to the room it was fixed. exercusions - DO NOT book tours with the hotel nearly double the price. do a little research on viator. left us feeling a bit weird about wether they just want to make money on guests instead of giving them a good time? staff - they do try their hardest but not very charismatic. the pool bar staff are lovely but can sometimes be a little pushy with drinks etc. overall - has the potential to be great but needs some work done to the hotel majorly, a lot of cleaning, re-modelling etc. looks very tired which is a shame because it’s in a beautiful area

Everything needs updating, rooms are bright yellow and felt like I was in the Flintstones. the grounds however are lovely and the hotel has a lot of potential if it is modernised

needs some serious maintenance. roofs overgrown with all sorts of noxious vegetation. roof tiles missing on all buildings. we had private villa pool that was not clean. wet bar pool was full of vegetation too. family of 5 and they wanted $100 each way for a taxi ride that went 3 miles maybe. tour costs were expensive as transportation was always another $125 for our family.

everything was bad! the staff courtesy, room, food, bathroom. they could not provide us the room we reserved as they said they are double booked.

nothing! it was shockingly worst facility we have ever been to. We could not stay at Hotel Mountain Paradise as they were double booked and could not give us the room that we reserved! the hotel manager agreed to refund us full money $1470.45. I am waiting for my refund.

There was poop shooting out of the jacuzzi outside the room. Four people stayed in our family room, but they only ever gave us three towels. Key cards opened multiple doors, so security was an issue. the pool felt unclean. They had an awful key- and towel card policy. You weren’t allowed to serve yourself buffet breakfast - it had to be done for you.

My room said mountain view. No view to speak of. The prices for drinks were outrageous even compared to other nicer hotels in the area. We were told we couldn't move our dates because the place was full. But there was almost no one there until our last night.

The experience was really unpleasant. I checked out right after check in because the room is completely not clean and the room is really dark — far different than the photos on booking. The front desk indicated that he will communicate with the manager to initiate a partial refund, but ended up with refusal to refund and claimed that this is a PENALTY because I BOOKED THE HOTEL. I just don’t get it. I book the hotel because the photos look great, and I am willing to pay for partial fees though I didn’t stay in the room for more than 1 hour. The hotel refuses for further communication and asks me to contact their manager — this shouldn’t be my job. Booking has been working on the issue and hope that a satisfactory results can be given.

I will start by saying I don't normally like to do negative reviews, but the room was very dirty. It was full of bugs which is understandable in the area, but this was due to lack of cleaning. The bedding was a dingy white and had stains, the waterfall shower had white (water) stains all over it, the walls had smashed bugs (old and new from us) on them as well as stains. We had one with a "jacuzzi" and it was dirty as well. There seemed to be about 6 or 7 people total working here, which makes sense why it's in this condition. I would not have been so upset, but we stayed at 4 hotels in the area and this was the most expensive and by far the worst. My wife wanted to leave in the middle of the night because she was getting bit by bugs in the bed. I will post more photos on the Google review.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were good and although they don't have hot springs or thermal pools, they do keep the pool very warm and we were pleasantly surprised. Also the bartender at the wet bar was fantastic.

not a 4* in any way - wifi doesn’t reach rooms, rooms are so far from reception and the paths aren’t well lit so we often got lost at night, activities marked up by 50% compared to what we found online, no welcome drink, no cleaning rooms unless you opt in with a door sign (this wasn’t told to us, we learnt the hard way), dated decor, no actual spa on premises despite being called a spa, dull breakfast and it’s the same menu every single day. So disappointed considering it’s priced to compete with other spa hotels in the vicinity. Would not stay again.
