Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe price! Yikes it's expensive for the average Canadian like me when everything is charged in US dollars plus 23% tax on top. The splurge was definitely a treat though.
Wow!! Absolutely amazing and stunningly beautiful property. Gorgeous villa and 5 star amenities. 5 star service and the food was exceptional. Twice daily maid service. The staff are very attentive and make you feel extremely welcome. It's a very hilly property so great exercise but there are golf carts if the walking is too much. The rainforest, flora and fauna are lush, exotic and amazing. No monkeys but we saw sloths. It was also very quiet in March(not many people) and there were an abundance of sun loungers so need to get there early to obtain one. The water in your private plunge pool is extremely hot as it's spring fed from the volcano but it can be cooled down by the cold tap which we had to leave running for a couple of hours for the water to be cool enough to get in. Pura Vida! We would love to go back one day.

United StatesNot much, just nit-picky stuff. Do be aware that the golf carts can sometimes take a really long time to come, particularly around dinnertime (like 20-40 minutes), but even other times. "Normal" is like 5-10 though. But plan accordingly. Also, the patio lounger doesn't have any comfortable pillows, & is not in the sun at all so not good for laying out. So go to the main pools for that. I didn't necessarily think my room (while lovely) really reflected the price of the stay, but certainly you're paying for the overall resort & location as well.
I stayed one night at Nayara Springs (after one night at Tented Camp). The whole Nayara property is huge & would be hard to navigate on foot by myself, and very beautiful. The golf carts will take you anywhere. The staff was so warm and helpful across the board. My room (V07) was beautiful, clean, comfy, & fairly spacious. The patio & plunge pool were nice, & it was very private but I didn't have a volcano view (or any view). The room service menu at Springs wasn't as much to my taste as Tented Camp, though, & the room service breakfast was fine but not amazing. All 3 resorts share restaurants, pools, etc. beyond that. The food & drinks across my stay were mostly excellent. What's great is that even at Springs or Gardens, you still have access to all of the resort grounds, pools, restaurants, etc. and most activities. One tip, if you're going to move between the resorts at Nayara, I'd recommend doing Tented Camp last, so you're moving up and not down :) I enjoyed the coffee tasting class at Mi Cafecito, as well as my spa treatment (green coffee wrap with Erika). I didn't get to spend tons of time at the various pools but did pop by a few & found them beautiful & enjoyable...the Termas (hot springs) were small and private, tucked into the jungle. Cielito Lindo pool (adults only) was great, nice bar too. Each of the bars have different drinks, so it was fun to bar hop between them. Overall I can't speak highly enough about my stay here, except that I was too short!

United StatesIt’s hard to find many dislikes, only feedback could be to play different types of music at the main pool, sometimes it was a little loud and didn’t match the calm, serene environment of the rest of the resort.

GuernseyThe lack of any genuine luxury that used to be synonymous with Relais et Chateaux. Very spacious rooms, but only adequately furnished. Woefully poor breakfast buffet but excellent a la carte option. Seriously badly supervised reservations team, who repeatedly ignored requests and came within a whisker of causing me to walk away.
Very good guest facing staff. Excellent location. Superb guides.

NetherlandsLeaving. Normally it is fully booked during the high season, so do plan your stay in advance
The resort is absolutely incredible! It is located in the heart of a lush rainforest with the local ecosystem being preserved. The facilities and accommodations are beautiful, clean and well-maintained. The villas are spacious and feature a thermal-water jacuzzi pool on a huge terrace. It was truly amazing to soak in the jacuzzi overlooking the jungles after dark. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and taken care of, and I felt like I was staying with family and friends. The resort is quite spacious, perfect for walking and hiking lovers like me. But for those who prefer not to walk, gold cars are readily available. Overall, I had an incredible experience and would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a luxurious yet eco-friendly retreat in the heart of nature.

Nayara Springs is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. The staff were amazing, and the hotel itself absolutely perfect. The room was spotless, the outdoor natural hot spring pool incredible. There is also so much to do on the doorstep, with easy access to Arenal National Park, La Fortuna town, sloth trails, the volcano and lava fields and so much more. I can't stress enough how wonderful a stay we had. In addition there are so many options for food with everything from Costa Rican, to Tapas, to Italian and Asian. We stayed for 8 nights and had the most wonderful time.

United StatesThe bathroom lighting was dim, so bring a lit make-up mirror if that is importable to you!
I rated the "location" as less than excellent because the ONLY drawback was the 3 hour windy drive from Liberia airport. To get back we chartered a small plane which was absolutely worth it (20 min flight). We were celebrating a birthday at Nayara and the staff went out of their way to make every day special. They knew all of our names (six of us) and our favorite drinks and preferences as soon as we'd walk into any of the eating establishments. We hated to leave, but can't wait to go back for another stay.
