Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Costa RicaThe villa where we stayed looks a bit dated and needs some minor repair work (mostly on cosmetic details because everything was functional overall) The pillows were not comfortable, could definitely use an upgrade Edit: I also was just made aware that the hotel (previously Hotel California) was recently purchased by new owners so they are still investing in refurbishing parts of the hotel that were previously left unattended, which explains the cosmetic faults here and there.
- The included breakfast was tasty and filling - Staff was very helpful and attentive - The restaurant had a relatively simple menu, but with quality food and big portions. It opens at 7am and closes at 9:30pm which is a good time allowing for some flexibility in your meals schedule. - You can enjoy incredible views of the ocean and nature around the hotel while in the pool and/or while having a drink. - The property is located in a narrow almost hidden street just off the main road to Manuel Antonio, which offers both privacy and convenient access to all beaches and restaurants nearby. Edit: I just noticed I submitted the review under the other room I reserved for my mom and younger brother. I stayed with my family in the Villa, while they stayed in the Standard Room, which had a nice ocean view and a small terrace.

United StatesThe road up to the hotel may be difficult to traverse for some. My partner is used to mountain driving and made it up fine in our rental sedan.
My family of three loved everything about our 3 night stay here- the staff, location, pool, free breakfast, and the ocean view from our balcony.

United KingdomAs the hotel was bought last year, it’s still in a process of refurbishment…..it’s been painted throughout, and the new owners are transforming it from what looked to be a tired old place (Hotel California, if you can believe it!) into a much more eco friendly “oasis” of tranquility and calm. It’s not fully transformed yet, but they’re getting there! (pool needs some work, but it’s functional and clean - the old jacuzzi needs to be removed and the pool shower completely redone) One gripe we had is the music……one cannot sit by the pool or dining area in silence! Endless music……even when we were the only guests there, we asked for it to be turned off so we could enjoy the birdsong etc., but that wasn’t allowed apparently. The kind young lady turned it way down for us though, but still…….
The location was wonderful! High up above the noise and bustle of Quepos overlooking the forest and sea to the north. We saw more wildlife there than in the Manuel Antonio national park by just sitting in the pool area looking out! We had a troop of the rare squirrel monkeys visit us in our first morning - adorable wee things! The staff were really welcoming and our room was spacious, comfortable and clean with its own balcony with the same view as above.

GermanyI didn’t like the food and the wifi was definitely an issue. The street to get to the hotel is not really a problem, we drove with a car and we were fine every time.
The staff is nice and our room was always clean and organized.

United KingdomI do not think the price is reflective of the facilities, the rooms are basic and beds slightly uncomfortable. The road to get to it is quite steep and very bumpy so be careful if you do not have a car. This is not the hotel’s fault. We advise you to get a 4x4 in general.
The hotel is situated on a steep hill overlooking the ocean which is great! The breakfast is tasty and the coffee plentiful! The staff is very friendly and helpful!

United KingdomMy sense was that they were upgrading the hotel slowly which is understandable, but did mean the rooms felt a bit tired. The bathroom especially was small and in need of updating. Things like 2 pillows per person (the one provided was so slim) and hooks in the bathroom would make a big difference to the comfort of the stay. We were woken every night by the dog on the neighbouring property barking in the middle of the night, obviously not in control of the hotel but did impact our sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful but did sometimes feel they were looking to give the quickest answer and return to what they were doing.
It's all about the view from this place which is beautiful. It also had a really nice family friendly atmosphere. Our daughter loved the pool and meeting other kids. We ate there a lot and found the food tasty and affordable (by Costa Rican standards) One day we were treated to about 20 monkeys jumping through the trees outside our balcony and also saw scarlett macaws fly by. Overall we enjoyed our stay but a few small changes could make a big difference.

CanadaI understand that a new menu is coming out with more variety. The current menu didn't offer much if you don't eat beef.
The view from my room was gorgeous, and the family band of monkeys that came to visit almost daily, really made me happy. It's a small and quiet hotel.

MexicoIm not sure what the name "healthy planet" refers to. The breakfast is bacon and eggs, and the milk is cheap carton milk. Given the name, we were expecting a lot of plant-based options, which unfortunately was not the case, not even soy milk was available, and the vegan options were pretty much non-existent, just by elimination of food items, so you end up eating less for more money. The location is also not ideal if you don't have a car, as you are in the middle of nowhere. Yoga is advertised. However, this means just an area to do it on your own. No classes are offered. Overall, we got the impression that the name is just more of a greenwashing selling point to attract tourists.
It is very clean overall, and the rooms were very spacious. The staff, as usual, is very friendly.

United StatesThe air conditioner in my room didn't work very well. The staff couldn't fix it, but offered to change our room. We opted not to switch. Some parts of the hotel could use a little maintenance, but - with the exception of the air conditioner - it was nothing that affected our stay.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff was very nice and very helpful. The pool was fun, and the bar and open restaurant were very nice. My room had a view of the ocean and it was amazing to wake up every morning to such a stunning view.

United StatesThe road to get to the hotel was a little dicey to get to in a sedan but it is no fault of the hotel at all. It’s just how Costa Rican roads are.
The facility was absolutely gorgeous and the view was spectacular! We especially loved the native birds flying all around.

HungaryA few times the wifi cut out in the rooms, but it always came back after a while and the signal was always strong at the pool/bar area, so it wasn't a big deal. We also had some difficulties getting to the hotel, because some vehicles are not fit for the steep side street leading from the main road to the hotel. This didn't really take away from our awesome experience either, just something to keep in mind if you are renting a car or booking shuttles/tours.
Our stay at Hotel Planeta Sano was amazing! A big thanks for the staff who made us feel right at home! Their kindness and attention ensured that our experience was unforgettable. The location is very convenient, just halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, both accessible by public bus which stops just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with a gorgeous view. The shared areas well maintained and the pool is great for a refreshing dip after a long day of hiking. The breakfast was tasty and filling, and everything else we tried at the restaurant/bar was delicious too.

SwedenWe can say the last bit of road was bumpy to come to the hotel. But we came with a low clearance 2 wheel drive and we came upp. So not really a problem there. Maybe the name of the hotel needs to be more clear on the building because we were doubting if we were right. But also not a big issue.
This hotel is really nice, we had a nice room. Good breakfast and a clean pool. The staff was nice . I think they listened to earlier complaints because we didn't notice anything from it. We enjoyed our stay.
