The rooms had an older thermostat that wasn't intuitive, for adjusting our a/c unit. It was on a timer and the unit shut off in the middle of the night as the default was set to running for two hours. Otherwise it was perfect!

We had an overnight stay at Hotel Presidente prior to our return flight back to the US. Daniel was working the front desk and was very helpful to give us advice on must see attractions in old San Jose. The facilities were great and a very comfortable roome. We had a fabulous dinner on the rooftop restaurant to top off our stay and the breakfast buffet was exceptional.

Bathrooms were small and basic. The rooftop restaurant is nice, but not many other good restaurants nearby. Too expensive for the quality of room / location.

The location, breakfast and staff were superb, notably the staff who went above and beyond. Shout out for Jorge who was amazing. Room was very adequate but dated.

At 6 AM the breakfast cafe can get extremely noisy because the entire building is tile floors, hard surfaces and lofty ceilings, so noise can travel everywhere. Bring a good pair of ear plugs if you need to sleep in.

We were in a big room so the air conditioning didn’t reach us unless on max. Parking was great but when we needed to leave there was a huge tour bus blocking us from leaving and it delayed us 45 mins. It was so frustrating because we ended up being late to our zip line adventure. It would have been nice if they told us that so we could have avoided the issue.

Hotel is absoolutly amazing and has this industrial vibe - only point of comment is that we asked for a quite room but ended up at the end of the stairs with the breakfast room in the open area down there. Unfortunately there are people who think let your kids running and screaming around at 7 is ok so partly ´fault´ of the hotel. I would recommend everyone to stay here - location is perfect, staff very friendly and the buzz here is really good !

We stayed at El Presidente for our last night in Costa Rica and were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the fun, industrial, quirky decor and very friendly welcome. The guys on reception very helpfully suggested some restaurants and souvenir shops to visit. The breakfast was outstanding, one of the best offered during our 3 week trip in Costa Rica. The rooms don't have the same quirky decor as the rest of the hotel however they were comfy and provided gorgeous lemongrass shampoo and conditioner which, after 2 nights roughing it in the jungle, felt like a real luxury! Be sure to enjoy the views from the roof terrace! We found a good shopping area nearby (and International bookstore with English language books) and with more time would have visited the National Museum which is walking distance.

Nothing to do with the property but it was unfortunate that San Jose in general not a safe town in the evening.

It is beautifully decorated, safe and comfortable. A restaurant upstairs is greatly appreciated as going out after dark is not recommended.

Spacious stylish room, spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. Free tea and coffee in the lobby. Roof terrace is very pretty. Staff incredible- I left my phone in the taxi and they had it back in reception in a few hours. Easy luggage storage.

It was quite expensive. The area did not seem good to walk in at night, however, they had a decent restaurant that was not too overpriced.

Very comfortable with helpful staff. They looked after our luggage after checkout and called the taxi for us to take us to the airport. Very close to the main attractions of San Jose.
