Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomKitchen could have been slightly better stocked with cooking utensils but that's a very small development point - everything else was fantastic

United StatesBe aware that it is a ~ 10 minute drive outside of town, up a steep narrow unpaved road. Drive carefully!
The Ecolodge is absolutely beautiful. I absolutely recommend going on the morning hike around the property to get an appreciation for what surrounds you. (Wear a bathing suit, you will get wet!) William was incredibly helpful and responsive. Would happily stay here again. I didn't get a chance to have dinner on the property, but the breakfast was delicious.

United KingdomPrincesa de la Luna feels like a family-run business, which is great. However, we felt like having a serving bar where you could get a beer or a drink at any time of the day would have been nice. Also having a mini fridge in the room would be helpful in case you wish to keep something fresh during your stay, especially water bottles for when you have outdoor tours and you wish to bring your water and recycle plastic water bottles throughout your stay in the country. Overall, staying in Princesa de la Luna Ecolodge was the best way to start our honeymoon and set the bar very very high for all other places we stayed in Costa Rica the following couple of weeks!
The location is absolutely stunning! You are truly immersed in the rainforest and are truly living alongside the local wildlife! We woke up the first morning and had the tucans knocking at our windows to say "hi" and possibly get some bites of banana!! We had our little terrace outside full of geckos keeping us clear from mosquitos in the evening, and a little bird nest on top of our roof which gave us a very intimate insight into the little birds' family life. It was like living in a dream! From our terrace, there was a "sendero" (footpath) into the jungle, which led to swimming pools 1 and 2. William who is running Princesa de la Luna also offers private or small group tours into the jungle, accessing directly from the Ecolodge. He will tell you a ton of incredibly interesting information about the forest and the wildlife within! Highly recommended!

United StatesOur room had an odor of bug spray and it was hot bc there is not air conditioning (which we knew).
Overall, this place is authentic. Definitely remote. The drive to the place is up a very rocky road. The staff was great! The food was delicious! It is a unique experience. If you have trouble walking, it may not be the best place for you. The pool is actually down below the property a good 200 steps. Also with limited parking, you do have to walk quite a ways to your room. Beautifully landscaped. Great outdoor kitchen.

CanadaThe beds were a bit hard. No air conditioning. We didn't stay long enough to get to the pool.
This place is a little off the beaten path. If you want the feeling of living like a real Costa Ricaian, this place is for you. The breakfast was great. The staff were amazing. We found the place easy because William is very efficient with Whatsap. This place is up in the hills, in the jungle.

Get up early and sip your coffee on the terrace admiring the majestic volcano Arenal. It won’t take long and the toucans will appear. This place surely has its magic.

United StatesThe house we stayed in was very outdated and needs a renovation. Water was cold and the beds were uncomfortable. However, it seemed like the rooms in the main lodge may have been newer.
Amazing staff who accommodated our every need and was very responsive. Very friendly and kind especially when my husband got injured. Outstanding, abundant and very affordable food. Beautiful grounds with lots of birds, and waterfall. Most awesome adventure tour with Allen with a waterfall swim and hike through the river. Lovely setting at the main lodge for meals. It was also a cultural experience with interacting with staff in our broken Spanish. Although the manager spoke very good English. Spacious 3 bedroom house for our family.

United KingdomThe road to the lodge is unmade, long and needs to be driven slowly, but the benefit is minimal traffic past the lodge and a sense of being in your own little paradise. Not a complaint, but be aware although there are 2 showers (one outside), there is only one toilet. If you have teenagers who hog the bathroom, it can be frustrating, but there are additional toilets in the main reception and in the restaurant!
The lodge is set in the most beautiful rainforest park, with trails to a waterfall and river walk. In the mornings we could watch hummingbirds flitting around the flowers just outside our house. We did the adventure tour on our first morning, which starts with a traditional breakfast and then follows these trails, which we felt confident to take on our own later in the week. Note: you will get very wet! But water shoes, rather than walking boots were perfectly ok to do the walk in, as much if it is in the river. William, the manager, led the tour and his knowledge of the plants and birds in the area is extensive. We ate twice at the lodge restaurant in the evening and the food was delicious. Simple, flavoursome and fresh. We stayed in the 3 bedroom pineapple house. It is spacious and suited our group of 6 perfectly. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed to self cater simply for 6 nights. There is a good size swimming pool around 60m down into the forest which was clean, quiet and beautifully situated with rainforest all around it.

United KingdomIt would have been helpful to have more modern facilities in the kitchen - pans, crockery etc. Also, would be helpful to have mosquito nets on beds.

CanadaNo signs from main road; very rough road to ecolodge; our cabin was very rustic (but clean).
Our family stayed in the large 3-bedroom cabin, surrounded by jungle, gorgeous tropical plants and mature trees, exotic birds on this remarkable and varied 10-acre property. A neighbour at the cabin next to ours saw a sloth on the ground (!!) just hours before we arrived. It was just a short walk to the main lodge where we enjoyed delicious, generous portions (breakfast & dinner) of typical local cuisine in the dining room looking over the jungle ravine. The adventure tour offered by ecolodge guides was a highlight: Walk along a steep, rough path to a stream, shower under a canyon-enclosed waterfall and splash in its pool, walk along the stream-bed, sometimes up to your chest in (pleasant temperature) fresh water, stop at a stream-fed pool for a therapeutic mud bath, all while bird-watching and delighting in the unique experiences.
