We arrived in SJO in the evening and stayed in this hotel in order to avoid the morning traffic congestion which can be bad for our onward drive to Puerto Viejo the following morning. Big hotel which is showing its age. Buffet breakfast was very good. Hotel grounds are well staffed and safe

Had the weirdest dining experience ever. We were told that the restaurant shut at 9.45pm and went for dinner at 8.30pm. We asked for a few extra minutes when ordering as it took us a while to decide. We were then left alone for some time. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains, which were delicious. I was looking forward to the blue cheese creme brulee when at 9.44pm the waiter came and handed us the bill. We were never offered dessert. There was such a delay in a taking our order it seems we missed the window for ordering dessert. In every part of the world I have been to, you still get offered dessert once you order a main course. If they had not taken so much time to take our order and then there was a long gap between starter and mains, then we might have gotten to order before 9.45. But we clearly felt that we were not welcome any longer, and left, unsatisfied. The starters and mains were delicious, but clearly a poor customer service policy at play here

The pool was alittle cold and more surrounding chairs needed. Rooms are alittle dark/ dated but clean and spacious.

Breakfast was abundant but not particularly tasty. It’s close to the centre but far from Volcan Poás or other places you may want to visit during your stay. You can’t go anywhere without a taxi as it’s not in a nice area.

They was noise late hour at the pool, the facility need a little maintenance, bathroom was not cleaned properly, room didn’t have any fridge and bed was very noisy when turning on it. Chairs and carpet need to be clean a lots of stain. One thing is the saloneers need to be my corteous as a guest coffer turn over on the table and no one provides assistance cleaning the table, the guest him self clean the messed and the table and kneel on the floor and clean the when they was two server and no one provided assistance to the guest

The hospitality was exceptional, the waiters, bartender did and exceptional job

Restaurant was poor in my estimation. Very little choice in food with high prices, and you didn’t get much for your money. So apart from breakfast we would head out to various other restaurants which we found more better and cheaper.

Property was excellent, spacious and all staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good and had plenty of choices. Swimming pool areas were very novel and popular.

Expensive, odd sized rooms with no plugs for electronics, broken coffee maker, only gave us 1 coffee pod a day even though there were 2 of us in the room, uncomfortable beds and pillows. No view even from the suite.

Noise in corridors. Bedroom so far from reception.

Big bedrooms. Clean. Bar and restaurant were good too. Easy to get a taxi to anywhere. Good choice for breakfast. Also the hotel was happy to look after our excess luggage while we toured Costa Rica.

Ideally located for us to drive to La Pavona for Tortuguero boat avoiding city traffic. Good breakfast.

The architecture is a bit concrete which was everywhere and not too attractive. The metal doors on the cupboards in the room were noisy and prone to sticking. Probably needs a bit of updating.

The hotel and staff were great its a short walk from the city centre. The food was good and the outside space was good. The pool was good.

Breakfast is poor at best (dry bread, limited cereal, melon or papaya for fruit). Some facilities didn’t work (sauna) but all in all, it’s ok for a night before heading out or home.

Ok, it’s a bit outdated. But what you get for your money, big rooms, big beds, swimming pool etc. can’t really complain.
