Dinner menu in restaurant was average. A kettle in the room to make tea would be great.

We came to see Quetzals and we were not disappointed. Guide that we booked through hotel was excellent. Good rooms with decent bathrooms including baths.

Everything was good.

Beautiful botanical gardens and diverse bird life surround beautifully designed and appointed cabin style rooms. A dinner of fresh trout from their ponds, complimented by apple products from their orchard, was a special treat. We also took advantage of a quetzal tour with a very good guide, Melvin, and got lots of fabulous photos of this amazing bird.

Beautifully situated and very nice grounds. Well-kept and with private hiking trails. Rooms are pleasant, a little dark, but with bathtub. Breakfast very good. But especially the dinner was very good and overall good value, good wine choices. Good happy hour.

Beautifully situated and very nice grounds. Well-kept and with private hiking trails. We were able to spot the quetzal on one of these hikes. Rooms pleasant, a little dark, but with bathtub. Breakfast very good. But especially the dinner was very good and overall good value, good wine list.

I wish driving to the hotel was more relaxed.

We enjoyed the setting of the hotel located in the nature. We were able to hike in the surrounding area. The room has great nature photography on the wall. We can look out to mountain views. The bed is firm and comfortable. The hotel staff are very responsive and provided good on call services, the breakfast was well prepared. We also enjoyed lunch and dinner. One best things was to see a couple of quetzals near the reception area. We were so happy to see those magical birds up close and personal.

The room was rather dated, but I will forgive it for its wonderful hummingbird garden, sweetest staff and delicious breakfast.

We loved the garden the location and the ambience, it was such a welcoming place. The room was basic, but it had a lovely warm aircon /heater and the shower was super hot and strong. Breakfast was also good! Highlight was the 5am quetzal tour with Raoul, he picked us up in his pristine car and was just the loveliest man. That aside he’s got hawk eyes and spotted the quetzal very quickly, we saw the male & female numerous times and it was truly magical (we booked Raoul via the hotel)There were lots of other guides, but none as switched on nor as enthusiastic as him.

There was nothing to fault it on except it is very popular so we couldn't extend our stay.

Brilliant hotel especially if you are into birds especially if you want to see a Quetzal. Rooms were great. Breakfast was fantastic. The guide (part of the family) was knowledgeable, kind and informative. Great trials direct from the hotel. Possibly the best hotel during our 3 week stay in Costa Rica.

Hotel Savegre is a large complex of cabins spread spaciously above the Río Savegre and below the forested mountains. It is a beautiful setting, replete with wildlife, including the spectacular Quetzal. The one thing that particularly stood out throughout the course of our week-long stay was the pleasantness and helpfulness of ALL the staff on site - they were fantastic: great attitude, and wonderfully trained. This is all the more gratifying when one considers that, given the site's distance and isolation from urban areas, most staff must stay on-site in various dormitories, I think working a 3-week on and 1-week off schedule. Despite this hardship, all staff were absolutely exemplary. A wonderful place with wonderful opportunities for exploring nature and the rugged landscape.

Nothing that you can't sort out with the staff. Just do your business early: the key here is starting and finishing the days early.

Good breakfast, cozy room, well-priced dinner! The best: the trails, the trees, the birds, the nursery, the night sky. Do book at least one full day (or perhaps two), so you can enjoy the place fully.
