Could do with more sun beds as you have to be down at the pool for 7am to get a half decent spot. They’re all gone by 7.30/8am. Also the music can be v loud during the day

Few restaurants and the different menus should include more options. Also, I did not like to see an unique restaurant for people who paid for concierge. All should be inclusive. Sometimes it was boring waiting for the shuttle. Beach is fine, definitely there are better beaches in Guanacaste but not close to main resorts.

Overpriced. Cheesy entertainment. I’m sure it’s fine if you like all inclusive places but I guess I don’t. It was like a cheesy landlocked cruise in many ways. Most of the food was pretty good but some meals were very disappointing. I also don’t like the whole ‘preferred’ crap. They had ridiculous rules about not being able to put up the umbrellas in a very light breeze - buy better umbrellas! This type of place is why I never go to the Caribbean or Mexico, just didn’t realize it would be the same in Costa Rica…and that’s the whole point I guess, you could have the exact same experience regardless of where you go. I guess some people like that, but I now know I am definitely not one of them.

Based on previous reviews, I didn't expect the selection of food to be so good. It was amazing. The service was faster than imagined. The transportation around the resort was efficient. Above all, the customer service and the friendly attitudes of all the employees was world class!

Not much really that you could dislike here. The only thing that we would have liked to have were more parasols as it was sometimes impossible to find sunshade spots (with 35 degrees C it becomes relevant).

Very nice hotel/ resort: well maintained, very clean, very friendly staff, very good food in several restaurants. We stayed for just a few nights during our Costa Rica trip, so definitely recommended for short stays!

The public pool: overcrowded, full with noisy people spending their day drinking in the pool, and listening to their shouting radios. The other pool (the quiet pool) is far more pleasant The beach is pretty, but the sand is full of black soot. There are cleaner beaches around, about half a mile walk by the shore. It is also possible to rent a self drive boat (if you have a licence), but the one we got was very old, and it was very windy, making the experience somewhat dangerous.

There is a big difference between the place we had first (scorching hot, high climb, nothing around) and the place we ended with (close to the sea, cool, monkeys around).

Room service takes 45 mn to 1h for just two glasses of wine to deliver, which is not the fault of the staff, the resort is just too big to offer. Same for transportation within the resort. Two busses are not enough to carry people to restaurants during dinner time and when tide is high the way to get from the quieter area is quiet a walk. Drivers are doing their best, just the amount it not possible to handle. Cracked tiles at the second pool, worn cussions at the pool area, second pool area bar closes at 3pm(!) in an all inclusive hotel, which again means you need the delivery guy just for an afternoon cup of coofee. - Value for money questionable.

Nice resort, as it is spread out, lots of greenery and there is privacy. Staff is very friendly, Selection of 4 restaurants. We got a free upgrade. Thank you!

Night time entertainment a little too loud when trying to sleep, however it was cut off at 11pm which was more than reasonable.

Needed transport around the resort most of the time, quality of food was not great considering the price hit/miss on dishes although some were good, quality of room service food was mixed - chicken wings were good. Final sales staff of the membership sales cycle were not the best experience.

Free activities each day like snorkelling, and kayaking. Bars and bar staff. The buildings themselves including our room were very nice, the beach was small but private. Most staff were good.

Check in and out was conducted with only 1 staff. Most flights arrive before noon, so by 3 pm everyone is tired and ready to rest. I waited on a couple that was already there when I got there for 39 minutes before I got upset and demanded to be given my key, since I had already paid .

The pools and furniture are old and not attractive. The lack of towels for over an hour at both pools was ridiculous.

The onsite shuttle service is ridiculous! You really can't walk from place to place due to it being spread out and the hills. No night life at all. I definitely go back to Costa Rica, but there isn't a chance in hell I would go back to Secrets Papagayo. Others may have a better experience, but for me, it wasn't in my top 25 resorts, and I have been to many in many different locations.

The food is great, although there aren't many choices and breakfast was just meehhh!

The service at breakfast was not good. The pool is not very large and becomes crowded quickly. Lack of towels at one pool. The property is very large and spread out so may be difficult for some with limited mobility.

The bartenders were amazing. The property and rooms are beautiful. The food was very good. The entertainment was very good. The bar selection is very good.

The main pool was loud and full of drunken groups throughout the day. Too noisy. The second quieter pool area was better. There wasn’t a shuttle into the local town so felt very cut off. Reception staff inexperienced.

Good facilities. Yoga. Aqua bar. Nice room with good view and beautifully cleaned every day. Waiting staff excellent - kind and friendly and always had a conversation.
