Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandFirst we had a appartment with e door outside of the hotel. I'm not felt save. But the Staff gave me an orher room inside the hotel, this was so great!
I like the staff, the food and the beautiful interior of the hotel.

SwitzerlandAn AC would be a good option on hot summer nights
Comfortable bed in the dorm with its own light, plugs and curtain for pricacy. Clean amenities. Nice staff. They organize shuttles to different locations in the country like once a day for affordable prices, and a shuttle to the airport for $20 every hour

United KingdomThere were a lot of leaks and the bathroom was out of order. On the Saturday night you could hear the music until quite late on in the evening but the other nights it was quiet. It’s not so much of a personal touch as I’ve had at other hostels, they don’t show you where anything is.
You always know what you get when you come to a Selinas, it looks nice, comfy room and great AC.

The shared 4-person dorm was by reception so potentially a but noisy however it felt safe and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. overall it seemed good for a hostel stay.

FinlandThey completely unnecessarily force you to download their app for "pre check-in". The room was noisy: poor sound insulation from the noise coming from the street and from the restaurant inside the hotel.
Clean hotel. Nice-looking restaurant. The location is ok, if you want to stay in the capital. They offered paid airport shuttle ($20). Good breakfast options.

SwitzerlandI stayed in a single room and it was very small. There was hardly any room for my luggage.
As Selina hostels go, the hotel offers an incredible variety. Very nice staff, great coffee welcome apero, nice kitchen and bar, library and many nice niches to be alone. I also took part in a free salsa dance class.

United KingdomStayed here a few times in different dorms, the rooms were really warm with only a little ceiling fan to circulate air, especially bad in rooms without windows. A little expensive compared to other hostels. The kitchen only had one sharp knife to cut up anything which made meal times a little bit long.
Nice communal areas, big shared kitchen and comfortable beds. Really good location next to the centre.

United StatesThe bathrooms could have been kept a little cleaner. Since they were shared they tended to smell a little musty. Nothing special.
A very small private room with a bathroom down the hall. The accommodation itself was basic but what makes this hostel nice are the shared common spaces, ex. the balcony, the yoga classes, the bar/breakfast area with live music, etc. It's in a safe neighborhood of San Jose and feels very walkable.

United StatesMy hotel shuttle was never booked. I learned from the reception they don't do late-night shuttles but I was told via email that they had booked one for me. It turned out fine, just wish there was more clarity for next time.
I arrived late from the airport, I had a quiet room in a mixed dormitory. It was quiet and clean when I arrived.

United Kingdomit is expensive but that is to be expected with a Selina, the rooms are actually quite reasonably priced but the food is very pricey. the price would be an issue but it’s such a good hostel that you really feel that you get your money’s worth.
the best hostel in San Jose by far! it’s pricey but the rooms are so good it makes the high cost worth it. if you want to stay somewhere with privacy and comfort then this it the place to be! the curtains on the beds are something rare in Central America and they are perfect after a long journey. the food is fantastic but a main and a drink cost almost the same as my room for the night. the staff are amazing and so helpful, it was so good to see a security guard on duty during the night as many hostels in Costa Rica don’t have one. I have already booked to stay again as I felt so safe in a city known for being unsafe.

United StatesThe lockers in the room could be upgraded -- it was the old loud metal kind and not large enough to secure an entire load for most people, so many bags on the floor.
it's Selina... always consistent! Food and bar areas are nice. And the staff is great They also have nice spa packages! I got two awesome sports massages while there that included breakfast! if you're having an epic night to remember forever there's a tattoo artist on property!

Netherlandsmy private room was so small that I hardly could stand next to my bed and suitcase 😅. My window was next to the social place which was not a success direct after my flight and time difference during a karaoke night. last but not least there was some old blood on the bedsheet. I really disliked this, but when I told the staff they luckily did something about it.
Friendly staff, lot of travelers and activities.
