There is a generator which was on for a couple of hours so couldn't sleep as so loud. About 11pm music started playing loudly from underneath the building - obviously some people have some drinks and fun but it was so loud we may as well have been in there so didn't sleep at all for a few hours. I did go to reception to try and speak to someone but there was no one there to ask. Barely had any sleep this night due to the above.

Me and my mum stayed two nights at Sleeping Mountain Arenal and the owner Marvin was the kindest person I met in Costa Rica. He was very helpful, accommodating with everything we asked and just a smiley, warm person. The rooms are great, they have everything you need, comfy beds, great bathroom, everything super clean. The location is in the center of Fortuna so easily accessible to everything.

The family room we stayed in seemed unfinished and needed to be refurbished. There was a pipe in the room that water could be heard flowing down and an excessive smell of bleach. No hot water for showers it was tepid. You could clearly hear talking and noise from the neighbours. Double bed size was small.

The location was good, the host friendly and it had a shared kitchen to use. Good Wi-Fi.

I had booked one night to stay with booking, but when I checked in I asked if it was possible to stay 2 nights instead. The man checking me in said yes there’s space and this was fine. The next day I’m doing an activity, and when I look at my phone I have lots of messages and missed calls from the hotel saying I need to have checked out at 11am as they have other guests checking in. i was totally confused as I was told it was fine to stay two nights, so I phoned them but they said my room has now been booked for 4 nights on Booking.com so I have to leave. They then packed all my stuff without my permission and told me to come collect it. I was also told there was no other room in the hotel, so I was essentially being kicked out. I understand that they made a mistake, but I was treated like it was my fault which seemed unfair. The hotel was generally fine and I guess I was unlucky, but it would have been nice if they tried to help me find a room somewhere else. Instead I had to go and stay at a hostel.

Very well located right next to the park. Safe to walk around at night. Very clean. Staff is very nice. Basic accomodation but very good value for money. There is a (basic) kitchen you can use (one electric pan and one electric pot and a kettle). We can recommend staying here.

If you live in a west-facing room, your room will be hotter than a sauna in the afternoon on a sunny day, making it impossible to move in!

At the moment - and I stress at the moment because Marvin deserves all tbe credit for trying to resolve the problem - the cleaning staff at the restaurant downstairs lifts and slides heavy furniture starting at 4:45 a.m. for roughly half an hour. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.

This was my second time visiting Sleeping Mountain, this time with family. This hotel is the best value with the best staff. Maria and Marvin will help you with every little detail to make your experience in La Fortuna amazing. Maria helped us find tours that were much cheaper than what we could find online, called my husband a taxi, looked up the bus schedule for our return to San José. If you’re nervous about traveling to a new place, you don’t have to worry about anything here. The hosts are excellent!

The reception is upstairs, if you are carrying heavy stuff, make sure you can do it yourself. First I was assigned into a room with a very strong bad smell in the bathroom. No big windows for ventilation which made stronger that smell. When you book a room, make sure the bathroom has a proper ventilation. Then they moved me into another room from which the street noise was stronger as it was over the street. If you don't have sleeping problems, this should be a perfect place for you.

Book it! If this is the price range you’re looking for, stop looking and stay here! Maria and Marvin made this an absolutely wonderful stay for me as a solo female traveler. They were incredibly helpful with everything I needed and I felt very safe. The hotel is in town, so you can walk to everything, but it’s also a fairly quiet street for Costa Rica. The room with AC was definitely worth the minor price difference as I went during the hottest month.

You just about get what you pay for. We didn't enjoy the stay- room 3 bathroom smelt, never used the shower as didnt seem clean. It's cheap and very slightly cheerful if your on a budget.

The Host was super nice and is passionate about Costa Rica! He told us a lot about La Fortuna and the country in general and was also able to recommend us lots of activities around la Fortuna! I would definitely recommend this accommodation!
