Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandI had a pleasant stay but the room was very hot as it only had a fan which could not be felt on the bottom bunk. It was a bit of a challenge to get onto the top bunk !
It's a lovely hotel with great jungle trails around it, a swimming pool, the restaurant food was great and it was clean. I would stay again.

GermanyThe kitchen amenities aren’t really good. There is not a lot of everything (pots, cutlery, no peeler etc). It is very small and gets crowded easily. They only have 3 stove tops and as they only have very big pots you can’t even use all of them at the same time.
Big dorm and enough space, nice atmosphere

Costa RicaThe shared kitchen was not as clean as it used to be. Our room had a private bathroom, it smelled weird and there was hair in the shower from the pasts guests.
The value for what you pay is very good, property offers a great location, trails, pool and is very close to Manuel Antonio attractions.

CanadaWe visited during the rainy season, and the downpours in the late afternoons/evenings were quite intense (but beautiful!). Unfortunately, there were small leaks in the ceiling to our room that water was dripping from during the downpours. But the staff was on top of it and we got moved to a different room the next day.
The food and drinks at the restaurant are fantastic! We ate there at least once per day, sometimes more often. There is also a shared kitchen where one can make meals and coffee - it gets a bit crowded though during peak times. There is a pool as well! The location is great - one can easily get to several different beaches, the national park, and the little town of Quepos which is less touristy by catching a local bus for CRC410 per ride. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful rainforest, and we even saw some howler monkeys hanging out in a tree right by the property.

United KingdomVery small double room, no space or storage. Concrete walls and grungy drain right outside spoilt the atmosphere. This would be so much better if it were just painted a nice colour or even tiled. People hanging clothes everywhere also spoilt the vibe. Some lines for drying clothes would be good. The worst bit was the ceiling fan, quite weak so very hot all day and especially all night in the room.
The pool is lovely and the hotel location very close to the cheap local bus stop is great. The jungle with the troupes of monkeys we saw every day was nice. The price, the staff, the restaurant, the kitchen are all good, though the kitchen area can get crowded. But it's nice that it's there, as well as having a restaurant!

wonderful restaurant on side with great prices and delicious food quiet room facing the forest - I would wake up to sound of howler monkeys nice room with lots of space in bathroom to leave toiletries bus stop nearby that runs every 15 min through town to beach huge area with free access to a 40m jungle trail air con and fan :)

United KingdomThe restaurant was heavily overpriced, the quality was very love, and the menu was basic and disappointing. The same applies for the service.
The location was good, next to the main road and surrounded by the forest. The room was new and clean, spacious and it had mosquito nets, not always easy to find.

Germanykitchen was very dirty and only poorly equipped, the mattress was so soft we got back pain (and apparently we were not the only ones), we heard some story’s from travelers that had to stay the first night in a different hostel, because teva was overbooked and upgrade to AC was not possible although on booking there was availability so make sure you book it from the beginning if it’s important to you.

GermanyThe mattress was so soft, we could feel the wooden planks of the bed when lying down. And there was only the standard thin blanket on the bed, no thicker one, so my partner had to sleep in her cloth. But that might be an individual thing, depending on how quickly you get cold.
Our room (double bed private ensuite) was nice, very clean, with a good shower and a powerful AC + fan. We also enjoyed the pool a lot, right next to the jungle. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious, with very fair pricing.
