we liked the staff. the hotel administrator was very knowledgeable about the best places in town to party. the cabins are spacious and have a nice sitting area where we were able to spot toucans. very close to the waterfall.

The accommodations were spartan and tight. The sink leaked, there were mice in the roof, although not in the room, and at times the dogs were barking even in the middle of the night. No ventilation or screen door, which is uncomfortable when there's no A/C.

Can't beat the location, the gardens and the wildlife were incredible! The birds alone were the most diverse we saw in our 20 days in Costa Rica.

Location, location, location! 2 minute drive to La Fortuna Waterfall. Family owned farm, absolutely beautiful setting. Clean rooms, delicious breakfast with fresh milk from their cows! Hosts were wonderful. Highly recommend!

I think it’s something I see all over Costa Rica but the light in the bedroom is so uncosy, I would recommend a bed light to bring some cosy-ness and romance :) Now the light makes it look like you are at the dentist haha

Absolutely breathtaking view of the volcano, we had a really nice stay here and could definitely recommend. beds were nice and comfortable and host and breakfast were lovely!

The toilet didn’t work and they didn’t have a public one we could use. We’re told it would be fixed but it wasn’t.

Great location, 3 mins drive to the waterfall. And the view is stunning! And the rocking chairs on the front porch were a great addition.

We had no mosquito nets on the windows and informed the host about it. Feedback was that this should be no problem. All other rooms had mosquito nets. When it turned dark we had several cucarachas in our room and killed more than 8 over night. No sleep at all. Next morning we informed the host and he just said that he will call the exterminator. No rebate offered. Breakfast is okay but without any passion. Asked for breakfast at 7 and finally got food at 7:30. Mattress has already been used some years. You will always find yourself again in the middle of the bed.

This was the best place we stayed during our two months in Costa Rica!! We’re always looking for family run, quiet, homey, beautiful places with a bit of nature to stay so if this is what you also look for this is your place! The view of the volcano is incredible. The family will treat you like their own. The rooms are clean, hangout space is very chill, and breakfast was great. Super cute dogs too. We didn’t have a car so it was perfect to walk to the waterfall one way (15-20min) and a supermarket (20min) the other way. Highly recommend & we will definitely be back.

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but our cabin was farthest from the wifi router and so we didn't get wifi at our cabin. At first i was unhappy about this, seeing it as a great inconvenience. But after a day or two (we stayed 4 days), i realized it was a great exercise in mental awareness. We were forced to be present when at the cabin. So I had a change in perspective, i came to view the lack of wifi as a good thing, forcing me to remove my brain from the internet for periods of time and just notice the number of times my mind wanted to seek it out, and redirect it back to the present, be that writing, a book or just listening and watching.

Our cabin was cozy, beds comfortable and clean, breakfast fresh and yummy. In room fridge is great. The family farm setting is marvelous, especially if you like mooing cows, morning birds, beautiful flowers and a rooster. So nice to go back to after a day of fun. Just the right distance from town.

The location of Tio Felix was very convenient for an early start at La Fortuna waterfall, which can get very crowded. We appreciated having a traditional Costa Rican breakfast before going to the waterfall. We loved sitting on the porch in the evening listening to the sounds of the bugs and watching the fireflies.

We didnt like the bad smell in the room (amd if you open the door ants come in) and the second day we had some small bugs in the bed! Also we heard every word from our neighbors in the room. And the last thing and very sad is that small baby dog is on the chain not longer than 1m! Such a big garden and dog is still baby and they hold him away from everything, very sad to see him like that! 😔 I was very upsed and unhappy!

Breakfast was delicious, garden is beautiful and very close to La Fortuna if you are with a car. A lot of birds and butterflies. Probably nice view on vulcano but we had bad weather

birds, mountain, people Best place we have been to. was a bit hesitant to book regarding the comfort but on every aspect is exceeded our expectations. Garden full of beautiful birds, near mountain and waterfall and the father still milks the cows and if you ask you can buy super tasty fresh cheese. very much recommend this place and their beautiful people
