Amazing views, amazing wildlife, amazing location. Just a fantastic place to stay!

Everything was great! We would have loved to stay longer! We will definitely book again if when/if we return to that part of Costa Rica, and recommend it to anyone who loves adventure!

The location was amazing: we had a beautiful view of the ocean, were a short walk/drive down to the beach, and there was a great restaurant (Terrazas) directly up the road. There were monkeys playing outside of our room every day, we saw a sloth and her baby in the tree outside of the property, and Agoutis playing in the woods. Manuel was incredibly kind and helpful - he helped us book tours to Manuel Antonio and arranged for pick ups. Everything was amazing!

For how close it is to the beach, you still need to take a roundabout route on the main road to get there due to a private property

We saw so much wildlife! Monkeys, sloths, birds. Air conditioning felt amazing

I loved having a full kitchen. This was my second time staying at Villas de la Selva. The view is absolutely amazing and you have just what you need. I also love the pool! It has a real deep end. Monkeys come to visit every afternoon! I highly recommend this property!

Not easy to find in the first place. Once you find the big sign there is an intercom to ring. Then you have to go back up the hill to the reception of Hotel Arboleda and turn left and follow the road for 100 mtrs. Great place though!

rilliant stay in a lovely location with stunning views to the ocean. Excellent self-contained accommodation with private balcony, (although monkeys did visit!). Great pool. Lovely helpful staff. Great place to stay for a few days. Easy access to the beach and local restaurants.

Nothing important (the connecting road leading to our house is very steep..., a bit far from the beach (have to take a bus)...

Fantastic views of the selva and the ocean from our terrace. Proximity to the national park and the bus stop to the park. The environment with wild animals that cross (or live on) the property (including a sloth that we saw much closer than in the national park), though capucin monkeys are a pain.... The kindness of the receptionist who called us at the right moment to observe the sloth.

Our room was very small with limited space to put suitcases and clothes. Not suitable for two mature ladies with luggage okay for backpackers.

The view from the balcony was wonderful and local wildlife would visit the garden. Amazing to get so close to the animals.

Other guests were noisy and you could hear everything from the room next door. Soundproofing not good.

The view was very good. The pool was very nice. The monkeys playing around right by my room was a joy and the best part of my stay. I felt very fortunate to see so many and especially the baby monkeys. Good restaurants nearby. Having my own balcony was a bonus. The bed was extremely comfortable.

The view from our balcony was amazing! Thr noise of the ocean also. The hotel has a direct exit to the espadilla beach and around 5 PM several white face monkeys show up for some food. Our 7 years old kid felt in paradise feeding them.

You need to go through Arboleda hotel gates to reach ocean. After ~2pm the gates are locked, then you have to go around via busy road to get to the beach. Would be good for this hotel to organize keys in the future

Swimming pool was amazing, kids loved it - great views and the best place to see lots of monkeys:) We saw a lot of animals: rockoons, cappuccino monkeys, squirrel monkeys, iguanas, sloths, hummingbirds, lizards. On the beach we saw toucans :) Our experience in Manuel Antonio national park was very disappointing (looked overhyped) and de la Selva hotel saved us, it was amazing to see soo many animals at hotel !

Did not think standards were high enough for the price (over $100 per night with no breakfast - most expensive stay in Costa Rica). The lock on the french doors did not work properly, tap was missing in the bathroom making basin unusable (manager apologised but was not fixed during my stay), no hot water in shower, torn tablecloth. Fittings and furniture not great quality. Large number of steep steps within the property would make it unsuitable for some travellers. No pavement in places both uphill and downhill along busy road made walking to restaurants or beach more difficult/dangerous .

Amazing view, particularly for sunsets, and lovely planting around property. Nice pool. Big balcony. Quiet position with no traffic noise. Manuel Antonio is a long, straggling area along a hilly road, busy with buses, lorries and vans so the Villa's position approx 200m uphill walk to 3 restaurants and 400m downhill to a road leading to the beach was pretty good. Approx 30 mins walk to National Park or bus stop for public bus available approx 200m away (outside La Cantina)

The monkeys had access to the pool / pool area and went in the water often so we did not wish to use the pool as a result (health risk).

We had a wonderful time, Thank you, Manuel!

We loved our stay at Villa de la Selva. We had parking right outside our room. The view was beautiful! We enjoyed seeing a sloth, monkeys and birds right on the property. We could walk to a nearby restaurant that was delicious. The air conditioning was great. We enjoyed not being on a resort or in an over populated area. Manuel was so accommodating and stored our luggage upon our arrival so we could go to the waterfalls.

    Nothing.

Amazing view from the balcony, good size clean basic room. Close to bus stop (outside la Cantina). Pool was a great addition. We saw so much wildlife from our balcony, more than the National Park! Watch out for the cheeky monkeys! 10 min walk to the beach.

Beach access is a bit tricky. The path from the bottom of the ( substantial!) hill that the property is on, dead ends at a locked gate in spite of a sign that says “ beach access 100m”. So one has to go on the road which is a bit treacherous if you’re walking ! There are lots of steep stairs, so anyone who has issues going up and down stairs will have a problem! This was not really apparent in the description and pictures. No pool towels are provided. The little sign on your room door that indicates if you want your room cleaned, flips over in the wind, so it often was flipped to the “do not clean” side and we ended up with one cleaning in 4 days

We loved the views, and the pool was wonderful. Super friendly staff, and the property is close to Manuel Antonio, Playa Espadilla and Quepos. Lots to do in the area.

It was not apparent in the pictures that there were so many stairs! The views were beautiful, and the property is built into a hill, so the stairs are a necessity , but it was a surprise to us. We still loved our stay, though!

The steps down to the pool were a bit severe but the property is on the side of a hill!

This property may not be to everyone’s taste but if you look at the photos it does exactly as it says! Rooms comfortable, clean, well equipped and had spectacular ocean view. Siamon who welcomed us also booked our Manuel Antonio Park guided tour was an absolute star. There was a male sloth and mother and baby that had rested in the tree by the pool and Siamon messaged us when it moved. Great local places for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Several cappuccino and squirrel monkeys and lots of different bird varieties particularly early on.

There was always an unpleasant smell of drains in the bathroom. Wine glasses are needed in the apartment rooms, beer and large glasses are supplied but wine glasses to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine to watch the sunset are needed.

The view from the room is amazing as is the wildlife of monkeys and sloths in the grounds. Simon works hard to ensure you have a great stay and tells you when the sloths are about. The monkeys are always about on your balcony and are entertaining. The sunsets are beautiful. You really dont need to go to the national parque.

Beautiful views, amazing wildlife, lovely staff and with all the basics we needed for self-catering. Thanks Simon for a fantastic stay. We hope to return.

A couple improvement things would be to have a fan over the outdoor kitchen cooking area (so hot to cook when facing sun). Also a small couch and bedside table - room #7 had a queen and single bed with a lot of shelves etc but no room for bedside tables (for a couple would prefer just one bed and more sitting area in AC as often too hot to sit outside).

Beauty ocean view with great landscaping, birds and local animals (saw more at this hotel than in the MA park). Fabulous, caring, attentive staff - big shout out to Simon (that guy does not stop running and working hard) as well as Manuel and the rest of team🫶
