I honestly loved every minute of staying at this property. I had a beautiful view of the ocean and the forest from my balcony. The hammock on the balcony was so relaxing. I had monkeys run across my the balcony a couple of mornings. It was really neat! While wandering into town I saw a sloth hanging in a tree. It's close enough to the beach, yet far enough away. There are restaurants and a supermarket super close which is nice as I didn't have a vehicle. The staff was absolutely amazing! The room itself was extremely clean, and had a full kitchen if you were planning on staying for some time. The wifi worked great! As a solo female traveler I felt so incredibly safe! I will absolutely be back!

    Not a lot!

Fantastic place! The property is well kept, and in a great location on the main (only) road into Manuel Antonio. The large balconies are perfect for watching the sunset and all the local wildlife which was literally right next to us. We saw monkeys, macaus, iguanas and toucans all from the balcony. There are lots of nice bars and restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast was nice (there were reviews about this being limited but we didn’t mind) and the pool area is lovely.

The safe in our room kept glitching and wouldn’t lock/open when we needed it to. No biggie though.

Wow! Hotel Villas Nicolas was a real highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We saw so much wildlife from our balcony, more than in Manuel Antonio National park! We loved watching the resident sloth most days in the tree opposite our room, sleeping, eating, even hanging upside down. We also saw white face capuchins, squirrel monkeys and even howler monkeys on our last day — one had a very cute baby! Scarlet macaws were nesting in the tree by the pool too. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony (even in the rain) and just watch the show of nature. Breakfast was tasty, and bed was really comfy. We also loved how eco friendly the hotel was. Location was decent, near lots of restaurants, a bit of a walk to the beach (uphill on return) but we liked the exercise! Thank you Dennys and co for a wonderful stay, we hope to be back one day! :)

Breakfast gets boring after a few days, only 2 options. Rooms easily get ants, a must to not bring / keep any food in the rooms

Great location, better than being closer to the beach. Close to the best restaurants! Awesome view and terrace was nice! Rooms are on the smaller side.

I wish the lights in the room, bathroom and deck were on dimmers for more chill mood lighting! (i'm personally a bit obsessed with light levels and color temperature ;). I wish the bar by the pool was open during my stay, but it was during Covid, so set up and availability was different.

This place is a garden paradise with towering flowing plants, a sinuous azure tiled pool, 2 scarlet macaws nesting outside my window (!) and a view that was jaw-dropping. The whole place is spotlessly clean, my bed was so comfortable, and you can drink the water from the tap-- it tastes amazing! i loved the huge private deck outside my room with a hammock and sitting area. I visited on my own as a solo female traveller (during Covid-19 pandemic in Sept 2021 - they require masks in public areas.) The place was like a quiet nature retreat -- exactly what i needed to reset from New York City stress! The entire staff was so welcoming, friendly and helpful with activities and transportation arrangements and great breakfast. Many restaurants and shops were within walking distance--a plus, because i didn't rent a car. The beach is a long HIKE on the side of the road with few sidewalks-- do not attempt if you're not steady on your feet. but there is a public bus nearby that comes by about every 20 minutes or so, or you can take a taxi. ***Do not miss a day trip(s) to the Manuel Antonio National Park and its beaches!!!! :) incredibly picturesque, well kept, and very walkable with elevated paths through the jungle. The ocean water is perfection for swimming. Pura Vida!

We had a lot of different small animals in our room like ants (a lot and everywhere), spiders, small lizards. I would recommend to spray the doors like everyday bc the ants come from outside or in the slit down the door. Others animals for sure came when the room was cleaned and the staff didn’t close the door.

The breakfast was very tasty (pancakes), I loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi area. A lot of beautiful flowers and plants. The staff was very helpful and friendly, spoke very good English. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We could observe once a capuchin monkey in front of our room.

Everything about this place was fantastic! Dennys was a very knowledgeable and accommodating host. It is in a wonderful location, walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Everything was great. Breakfast was nice but maybe a bit more variety might have been good.

The pool area was lovely. Our room had a big balcony from which we could see animals like iguanas and guatusas. We even saw monkeys in the trees while having breakfast one day. It’s a small hotel so it was very peaceful and private. It’s also very close to lots of good restaurants. The room also has everything you need to cook and enjoy a simple meal at home.

    Oasis in Manuel Antonio
    • Leisure trip
    • Group

My room was the only thing that did not meet expectations. All the pictures featured on booking.com and on the hotel's website show rooms that have apparently been refurbished or staged; mine was NOT one of them. The room did NOT look like any of the pictures on the website. I was expecting one of the rooms pictured but that's not what we got. Granted we requested a room with two beds, so perhaps the two bed rooms have not been redone. That said, the room was adequate but small for what we paid. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot with good water pressure.

Hotel Villas Nocolas is an oasis in Manuel Antonio. The gardens, especially surrounding the beautiful pool, are simply gorgeous. It's a quiet haven with lovely flowers, hummingbirds, toucans, monkeys and I'm sure other wildlife that we didn't see. I heard there is a sloth living in the trees, but I didn't see it. Dennys and all the staff were very nice and accommodating. The breakfast, served outside next to the pool, was wonderful and the coffee superb. We booked an ocean view suite with two beds. It had a very small kitchenette with a coffee maker and toaster, which came in very handy. The best thing about the room is the very large lanai/terrace/outside room. It's covered with a dining area, hammock, and seating area. Sitting out there and relaxing with coffee was wonderful. We were able to see all sorts of wildlife and hear the monkeys. We saw a sliver of ocean, so it was an "ocean view" but don't expect to be close to the water or have a huge ocean view. I would stay there again and would recommend it to others, but just don't expect your room to look like the ones picture on the website.

Had to request room to be cleaned and to change towels. Not ideal when paper could not be disposed of in the toilet Only 2 choices for breakfast which were both fairly basic so very boring when booked for 5 nights Bar only open 4 to 6 and closed on Monday Although advised not for people with walking difficulties there were 53 steep steps down to our room

Lovely gardens and wildlife visible from pool and from our balcony Close to bus stop Hood choice of restaurants close by

pool closes at 8pm and all the lights are turned off- The owner asked the staff to make us leave the pool area after 8pm ( we had gotten out of the pool and were sitting and talking) she was super rude. Felt bad for staff who had to ask us to leave as we were 6 adults having booked 3 rooms for over 5 days each so we were not happy about No common space hang out. I get it isnt a resort but dont expect to be welcomed by the owner.

I asked for a room with a good view when I booked the room over a month in advance, yet I somehow got literally the bottom most room with essentially no view. I booked the room for a whole week and was told that there’d be an opening in the beginning of the week, yet no one followed up with me. I asked the manager for extra towels and was told “the cleaning staff would provide you towels”, yet the whole day went by and I didn’t get the towels. Other than this, my stay was pretty good. It’s a little annoying that the bar is cash only, but the bartender provides great service and makes excellent drinks.

    The rooms were nice.

The breakfast was not good- just toast, tasteless pancakes and eggs. The key to the room was attached to a large cumbersome piece of wood. I asked for another key that we could easily put in a packet, and was told they didn’t have any.

It was a little off-putting being asked to wash our hands as we walked through the door, even before we were asked our names. Breakfast was very basic just same 2 choices each day and other options such as an omelet instead of scrambled eggs costing $6.00 more. After 4 days we gave up and headed for the high street for breakfast. View from the room was a sea view but between the trees.

The room was a good size and the pool was lovely albeit a nervous swimmer may have found it too deep. (5ft at shallow end). Location was great, 15 mins walk to the beach and 2 mins to the high street.

The room #5 down is 55 stairs down to the jungle floor. Extremely small, no shade on balcony during the day and very uncomfortable chairs on balcony, one was broken & the other is for taking the sun. We had our meals inside with plates on our laps.

The pool, comfortable pool chairs, and the breakfast as well as the breakfast staff. Room was very small but nice and clean.
