We really had nothing to dislike. Beware however this stay is located on the mountain and takes a nice climb, really good to develop good calves and glutes.

The location and the host of this stay are both excellent. Fantastic views, you really feel on top of the world. Katelijne is very helpful and gives wonderful suggestions to do. We have never been treated beter at a stay. The dinner is lovely and an excellent way to meet people. The staff is also very friendly.

The room we had was rather basic and a bit dark but it is not the place to be spending much time in your room. It’s too beautiful outside! We didn’t mind it at all. Water pressure was low but since we are on a mountain that is just the way it is.

Amazing views! The location: great start for the best hikes around the island. The owner Katelijne is a great source of information. The food was great and we liked that we all ate together at one big table so we got to know one another. There is a fridge with drinks and snacks at a very affordable price. WiFi was good too. The mattress and cushions are really comfortable.

WiFi connection in the room could be better, but do we really need that in such a place?

Amazing place, super good vibes. Stay here if you want to calm down and chill.

An incredible host who runs the place from the genuine love for it! And she does excellent! Its not only all the languages she speaks but also the kindness and willingness to support in every sense of it. You will feel save and well taken care of! The meals are homemade, the bed really comfy and hot water always available (unusual in the area but much needed)

Breakfast could be better. Water pressure in the bathroom was most of the time quite low.

For the dinner everyone gets the same main dish and it was everytime very delicious. The owner was very helpful, when we were organizing our hiking routes. Beautiful view from the window.

a full door between the bathroom and bedroom would have been nice, but we adapted to the space and that's a small moan for what was an otherwise fine stay.

Well, the view here are outstanding, like seriously impressive and worth the hike up the many stairs to get to the place. The host Katelijne, is possibly the most helpful and informed person we've ever had the pleasure to stay with, she has a direct no nonsense but helpful attitude, with some dry humor. The communal evening meals are all served at once, you're called to dinner, you meet your fellow travellers, it's informal, tasty and Katelijne basically sorts out your treks and adventures for the next day, sorting transport, suggesting walks, views, places to eat etc. Her suggestions, tried and tested were perfect for us. She works closely with the local community to ensure they get a fair wage, and treatment, which means she knows just about everyone and anyone there is to know. If it's possible to sort it out Katelijne will, although i suspect her patience may run thin for a demanding guest. Lucky most of us were very happy to take such good natured informed suggestions and our days trekking etc were perfect and i mean perfect with her support. The rooms are fine, quiet at night, beds comfortable, linen clean and fresh some handmade soap in the bathrooms, the water pressure is what you would expect from a small community halfway up a cliff face, but the water is hot even if the pressure is low. Bathroom is a little small, if you're on the larger size, but we worked it, our room only had half doors between the bedroom and the bathroom, so if privacy is important, consider asking about this ( the other rooms may be different), Staff were charming, helpful and efficient in that laid back Cape Verdean way, the view right outside our room was directly down the valley, a stunning gorgeous way to start or end the day. The place is surrounded by steep terraced gardens, growing produce you eat, and there's plenty of flowers and interesting plants everywhere, a few friendly dogs lounge in the sun. Excellent fresh breakfasts. The view,...

The ascent to that heaven was a workout that on an occasion or two I wished it had not been there. But that's the price you pay to be in that wonderful refuge.

The views, nature, peace of the place, and the local community made for a unique experience.

Just a small bed with a too soft mattress. The shower is pretty small. Due to the lack of space, breakfast and dinner is taken at a long table, together with the other guests. I would have liked to eat alone and in silence. A stronger light for reading in the bedroom would have been great.

After traveling the whole world I have to say that this is one of the most magnificent places that I have stayed in. I saw the Casa das Ilhas 15 years ago and it was always on my mind that some day I would come back to Santo Antão to stay here for some days. The location is 10 ++++++ Kathleen, the Belgium owner, makes sure that everything is running smoothly. The scenery around the accommodation is simply breathtaking. I spent 4 days just sitting in front of my room, taking in the view, the smell and sounds of nature. At the beginning of December the temperature in my room was constantly a comfortable 24°. The staff is very polite and well trained. I loved it that it was so quiet. No sound of TV, no blaring music....just the sound of nature. Even the staff talked in a low voice and also the other guests were quiet. It had the quality of a spiritual retreat ! The taxi ride along the mountain road that Kathleen booked for me is one of the most beautiful journeys on this planet ! I hope to be back soon for a much longer time to chill and recharge the battery.

The location is absolutely gorgeous. Rooms are really clean and spacious. The owner is the most helpful, giving advice of the area, helping planning routes and hikes and organizing transport in the best way for all the hostages. Breakfast is delicious and having dinner made with local products altogether sharing about the day and hikes was lovely. Highly recommended

The shower was cold, and the location is 15 minutes walk up a steep hill. Perfect if you like hiking in the area, but expensive and awkward if you want to visit places outside of the Paul valley.

It’s a steep 15 minutes uphill hike, but that shouldn’t be too much of an issue, otherwise Santo Antāo isn’t your place. The internet only worked in the communal room, not in your own cabin.

The owner Kate is amazing. She has tons of ideas and itineraries to make your stay an unforgettable one. Dinners organized by the Casa are an absolute delight as well

We were not told the price of the dinner, which we found a bit overpriced, but I mean there are no really other options close by and it was really good, so fair enough.

The location, the view from the room, the breakfast as well as the dinners were really good! Also very gentle staff. It is good to have WiFi in the dining room only to disconnect well in such an amazing location.
