Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCharging ports on beds didn’t work - important if you’re traveling and need a working phone next day. Beds are not made; sheets come as a pile on bunk - important if sharing a dorm; I checked in later and would have woken up bunk mates having to make a top bunk. Bathrooms in dorms are noisy. Location farther from Central station than expected, and Uber is not an option. Taxis take longer than expected.
Staff were helpful. clean linens.

PhilippinesI booked the room where 6 people can stay (mixed setting), so I was expecting to sleep with strangers. What I didn't expect was the room was not even prepared and cleaned for new visitors. The garbage can was still full from previous tenants and used towels were at the toilet. The beds were not even cleaned at least. Used bedsheets, blankets and pillow covers were still in the room.
The Staff were very approachable and friendly. Very affordable stay especially for people who just needed a place to stay the night before travelling.

BelgiumThe room is very basic and very small for four people, half the size from the same rooms we have stayed in two other hotels of the chain. The beds for the kids weren't made, they didn't leave towels for them. The room has a disgusting smell . The noise was awful - guest playing loud music at 3 in the morning, in another room shouting, laughing partying at 5 in the morning.
The hotel is a 15 minutes walk from the historic center. The breakfast was ok. The paid parking with the hotel was secure.

NetherlandsSmokers! So many people smoking (including staff)! All of them in front of the entrance, which results in the ground floor (lounge area), central staircase and upstart corridors having that distinct smell. This should be solved by moving smokers away from the entrance. The road has poor paving, the railway underpass acts as an amplifier and many drivers are speeding here, so there’s quite a lot of noise coming in.
Family room & breakfast was good value for money. Location is OK, close to the station and with good bus connection to the inner city.

United KingdomI was assigned bed #2 in room 106. Bed #1 was pushed right up against mine (NOT separated as with the bunk beds, but literally two beds pushed together as one) and featured a middle aged woman who WOULD NOT STOP COUGHING IN A HACKING SICKLY MANNER AND SNORING LIKE AN ELEPHANT WITH A TRUNK BLOCKAGE. This was not normal snoring. This was not normal coughing. AND SHE WAS IN THE ROOM ALMOST THE ENTIRE TIME. She only left for brief breaks…and came back smelling of smoke, because if there’s one thing this heavily coughing lady needed it was a smoke break. The beds were pressed together such that she would literally COUGH ON ME ALL NIGHT if I slept in the bed as they had arranged it. I have been to several hostels in different countries now and have never seen any hostel literally push beds together like this—and this is why, it’s totally unsanitary if a guest is, you know, a hacking coughing germ-ridden machine like this person. I literally slept on the bathroom floor one night to try and stay away from her, and the other two nights rearranged the bed to try and push it a couple feet away from the woman at least…and I’m not sure how much that helped since, yes, I was coughing by the end of this. I totally understand that having bad roommates is part of the gamble of any hostel, but I would urge this one to seriously reconsider their bed arrangement, because pressing beds together like that is just NOT a good idea health-wise or guest experience-wise. (And if you still have that lady in Room #106 for Bed 1…maybe look into that…she barely moves all day and simply makes 10/10 noise and coughs on whoever’s nearby without apologies or anything…this woman may need medical help, but she’s also harming your guests.)

United KingdomUnstable beds, unconfortable, noisy, and with no privacy The twin beds linked together, with little or no space to separate them, which means you might sleep next to a stranger coming during the night. (I am not comfortable with that, but maybe many are). Dirty (possibly because of the roommates) People smoke in the room during the night (I don't know the policy. I shall hope that's not allowed, but many men still do it. They did it as I was asleep and woke up suffocating with the smoke).
Friendly helpful receptionists. En suite bathroom. Separate shower Spacious rooms. Nice extra furniture. Close to the train station and the city centre.

United KingdomThe guest kitchen wasn't that clean. Some cups and saucers had clearly been used and just put on the side. You were encouraged to clean up yourself, which wasn't an issue, but there were hardly any cleaning products available to do so. The cleaning sponge was filthy, using it to clean would have made the item even more dirty which made no sense. I didn't feel comfortable using anything and thought that I might even get sick, so I avoided doing so. The kitchen was also poorly stocked in terms of utensils (kitchen knives, chopping boards, drying rack, tea towels etc) so it made general kitchen usage difficult. If I had had to stay more than one night it would have been very difficult to prepare a meal. Although the fridge wasn't full there was only one, so if everyone brought food it wouldn't all fit. You would need to rely on someone else not bringing in too much so that you could fit in your food also. There was no freezer so you would need to consider that with meal prep too. The hostel required you to label your food and drinks but did not provide any material to label them. There wasn't the opportunity to have female-only rooms, which as a lone traveller would have made me feel safer. The hostel needed a touch-up and could have done with some paint just to make it look a bit airy and brighter.
The room was clean and there was a separate shower from the toilet which was helpful. The staff was helpful and there were lockers available for you to keep your stuff in. Towels were provided just in case you forgot yours and the room was nice and warm.
