Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

BrazilA-partment was dusty and the bathroom conditions were terrible as it the shower was leaking all over. Also, only three small towels were provided, simply not enough. Living room heaters were not working and window blinds didn't fully avoid sunlight in the morning. Very expensive for what it was. Also, all WiFi passwords given were not working at all.
Great locattion, close to Koln downtown like heumarkt and transportation.

United KingdomCleanliness is poor (laminate floors were sticky). There was an old fridge still in the room completely full of mould (see attached pictures). Only hand towels are provided and they didn't inform us until after we had checked in that we should bring our own towels for having a shower. This is very poor given that the apartment is advertised internationally. The hand towels provided had yellow stains on (see pictures). The whole apartment building smelled strongly of smoke when you walked in (although there isn't a smell of smoke in the apartment itself) . This combined with the fact that various smoke alarms had been taken down and fire doors in the hallways were propped open mean it is a considerable fire risk. The shower cubicle leaks and then floods the bathroom floor unless you are extremely careful with the shower. Once the floor is flooded it is then difficult to dry it since they don't provide proper towels. Cutlery and plates etc were dirty, however again they don't provide sponges, so how are you supposed to clean them (although they did provide washing up liquid - suspect this was left by a previous guest as we bought and left some sponges there). Only one roll of toilet roll provided for 4 guests for 4 nights. There is a leak in the kitchen so this also starts flooding the floor - again difficult to dry without any towels. Also you have to sign a rental agreement (they send one email via booking.com in german so make sure you don't miss this). You have to provide this agreement 24hrs before arrival otherwise you can't check in. Kitchen tap all loose and corroded / limescale.
The main positive about this apartment is the location. It is only 5 mins away from a tram / bus stop and around 15 mins into the city centre.

GermanyAll, the interaction with the owner was bad, the place was not clean, hair in bathroom, no trash bin in the bathroom, dirty yellowish towels, dirty floor, the apartment house smelled like weed, there was no coffee machine, the fridge is installed in a wrong way that you can’t access the freezer, no mirror, not enough utensils, dirty boiler, and the cheep curtains are falling, the bathroom handle is broken. Not a good experience at all.

NetherlandsThe apartment DOES NOT provide simple things such as towels, pillows or hairdryer, instead you have a hand towel and a piece of white sheet replacing what should be a pillow. Blankets were also dirty and the toilet seat was broken. The check-in process was a disaster. The day I made the reservation they asked me for some documents signed which we sent, in the same day, to the email provided. A few weeks later, and a few hours prior to check in, we receive a message stating they didn't receive anything and were unable to proceed with the check-in. And in this message they came up with a different email they informed the first time. Tried to call them but nobody speaks English which made the whole thing stressful. When they replied my message they were rude as they were doing me a HUGE favor but in reality they were just incompetents.
The location and price is the only points in favor of this apartment.
