The shower had poor pressure because it leaked. It was frustrating not to be able to take advantage the usually good water pressure that Germany offers. The layout of the room was weird, with a small room before you entered the bedroom. This room had no furniture.

The hotel staff was nice. It is a small hotel that exists alongside a larger hotel and when you need to check in or out, you have to speak to someone who will come over and give you your keys. The room was fine, given that the price was reasonable.

The hotel location is pretty central to sightseeing easily by walking in the city. The staff is helpful and friendly. We'll choose this hotel again while traveling to the city again.

The facilities were lacking a little bit, but the room was spotless. For example, there wasn't an electrical outlet in the bathroom, but there was one in the room itself. It would've been nice to have a mirror near an outlet. Also, if you want anything to snack on or drink, you'll probably need to leave the property to grab something nearby.

The location is fantastic and within walking distance to several attractions. The hotel was clean, the staff was very nice and went out of their way to ensure I had everything.

On initial arrival, we were greeted with a locked door and a note saying wait a few minutes or to ring a number. My impression is, ring the number, don't wait. A cheerful bloke turns up within a couple of minutes and dealt with us. My feeling is that there are not enough rooms to warrant a full time staff member so they are nearby with maybe more rooms, who knows? It's not a hotel with room service and a constant buzz, but a few rooms where the guests are left alone and it was nice, if this is what you want. Suited us very well. Apparently, they do have rooms that have a separate toilet off the stairwell that we passed, but it looked clean and the check-in chap explained to us, they were priced cheaper, accordingly.

In the room we had, with the package I paid for, we did not have breakfast. I did not see anywhere that could have catered for breakfast anyway. There are 2 or 3 bakeries for coffee bread and cakes to eat in or takeaway within a pleasant walk of 3 or 4 hundred metres so that was no problem. The room we had was a good size, with a nice bathroom attached. It was all clean, although one or two fixtures looked a bit old or were broken, but nothing that reduced usability of the facilities. The location was in a posh sort of area, lots of high end shops etc, and very easy walk to the cathedral and the markets. There was as is mentioned on several reviews, no lift. Be aware but for us this was fine. We could come and go as we pleased at all hours, we did not really hear any of the other guests, and the area felt safe. Honestly, I would stay here again without hesitation.

The actual building is a bit noisy as there aren't any carpets in the reception so any conversation late at night was audible in our second floor room. However, this only happened for a short time on one night.

We booked this at the last minute and were really impressed by the quality of the room for the price. It was a nice quiet neighbourhood with some lovely shops and cafes nearby. The staff were very helpful and made us a cup of coffee.

Only small observations: wish would be clothes racks in the bathroom, spotless linen sheets and no leakages on the ceiling. No elevator, so people, who have problem to move up and down take to attention. Also hours of check-in from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00 are a bit short, although no problem to leave in luggage in the storage room.

Youth-oriented Hotel is a great location (near the Dôme) and perfect stay for Cologne Carnival. It is run by private hosts, who are very friendly! It is clean and equipped well. Very good value for money.

Uncomfortable extra bed, Wi-Fi didn't connect on cell phones or TV, there's no minibar in the bedroom, the shower drain was blocked.

It is advertised as a hotel, but there is no reception or staff that should be in a hotel. However, it does not have apart features. Here you only get room and bed; is given. You have to open the hotel's exterior door yourself with the key. There is no room service, the room is not cleaned, it does not feel clean in appearance anyway, it is a strange establishment. The bed is placed on a base with a wide frame, and even if the sheets are changed, all kinds of dirt from the previous stays remain on the frame on the side of the bed. Since I wasn't sure about the cleanliness of the sheets, I put a t-shirt on my pillow. There was no elevator, I carried my suitcase to the 3rd floor. There was no safe. After the shock I experienced, I couldn't even think of not wanting to stay because it was not a place where refunds were granted, but it was also not a hotel that fulfilled its promises. After 2 nightmarish nights, I stayed in a real hotel in Brühl for half the price. Positive comments were obviously entered into the system by acquaintances of the business owners.

I think the only thing that could have given the extra boost would be a coffee machine in the room.

The owner is very gracious. He waited up very late for me on my arrival from the airport. He welcomed me kindly, and our small talk quickly became deep. He always checked in with me to see if I was missing anything and gave me good recommendations where to eat and where not ;) . I enjoyed my stay and had everything I needed, not to mention the location - being in the center of the city with everything is a 1-5 minutes walk.
