How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Construction work outside can be noisy, but we are spending most of the day in the old city anyway so it doesn't bother me much
While the hotel is not located inside of the old city, it is only 10min walk. Next to the hotel are supermarkets, DM (similar to CVS without the pharmacy section) and restaurants -- very convenient to get some supplies

* There was a weird smell in my room which I did not exactly like. Later I either got used to it or opening the window helped, though.

The room was quite small and the facilities were fairly basic, but it was OK.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good location for exploring town without being in it - therefore good value for money.

As stated before by others. It's a bit outdated, but very clean and a good place to stay overnight. Friendly and helpful owners. Had diner there which was also good as well as the breakfast. Excellent price-quality.

it is not the most modern hotel, but rooms are clean. the bathroom was rather small.
The location and value for money is very good. The staff is very friendly.

It’s in a great position, quite, clean, spacey with a delicious breakfast warm and cold. Very friendly and helpful , they even sent me instantly, free of charge, a key I had forgotten in my room.

The hotel is very nice, perfect location, walking distance to the inside of the fortification wall, the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean and convenient.

The breakfast room is under renovation, so we couldn't try breakfast. But they suggested a place for breakfast which is just across the road and very nice price worthy.
Good location, only 5 -7 minutes of pleasant walk to reach the old town wall. Convenient for any grocery shopping and breakfast place. Staff is really nice and can answer any questions we asked. We got a very good family room at the corner and can see the best view of the streets. The bed is very comfortable. Hotel is a bit old but clean and well preserved.

The pictures don’t do justice to the place. It’s way better than what is shown
Nice, clean, tidy, very friendly hosts and close to the city walls. It was an excellent choice for our family trip to Rothenburg. Highly recommended

I just wish I could have stayed longer.
Our hostess was amazing. She was extremely pleasant and answered every question and we felt so welcome after a long drive. Their restaurant is great value and great service and delicious food. The room was good. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. I will definitely return.

Would have liked a fridge and ketle in thw room, but we knew that was not to be expected.
Very nice hosts - we felt very welcome. Parking in front of the hotel for free. Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast.

The staff was amazing and very welcoming. The location was also pretty good to get to the old center. The breakfast was so amazing!! Also, for the price, I was really happy with the facilities, attention with guests and location.

The hotel is run by a small family, they were very warm, kind and helpful during our short stay. The hotel is located close to the old town center and a supermarket, the breakfast was good, and the room very affordable. But the highlight of our stay was the delicious food from the hotel's restaurant, specially the '"Alter Ritter" favorite dessert'.

There is no elevator. The attic room we stayed was small. No cooling system was available at the room. When we tried to use the toilet after 1 hour of check-out, the hotel personel did not allowed us. Even though we paid in advance the room charge, the receptionist forced us to enter the hotel before 20:00 o’clock.

Easy walk to the city. Ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both were exceptional. Best bed I’ve slept on in years!

Does not have a lift but it is a very small compromise.
Receptionist was very welcoming and very approachable. Room was excellent with very good room service. Perfectly located, within walking distance to the old town. Breakfast was decent and not crowded. Rothenberg was a very romantic town we loved it.

The welcoming was forthcoming and the receptionist explained everything very well, also recommended some iglights to visit. The breakfast was served at a dedicated room, a simple continental breakfast all freshly prepared and plenty to choose from.
