The staff could have been a bit more outgoing but overall were nice. Rooms were freezing cold when we got in and it took 2 to 3 hours for it to be comfortably warm. Unless you get to the breakfast buffet as soon as it opens, you’ll miss out because it does not get refilled.

The rooms were clean and the area was quiet. Breakfast buffet was amazing! Even as a vegan, my family member left the table full and satisfied!

The room was in the original building on 1st floor, with quite a lot of noise from the road. Also a street light was more or less outside the windows and with no blackout curtains its a bit annoying. There was no fan available in the room which was very warm and with a low ceiling height it feels quite bad.

Nice breakfast and great dinner as well. Good variances of food and drinks available.

You can hear noise from the hallway and outside. Most of the time this is fine, but there was a noisy group of men staying who were going somewhere at 3am and likely woke everyone up. I'm guessing that this wouldn't be a problem most of the time.

The staff were fantastic and always made me feel welcome, especially Lena. The location is easy access to the train station and the centre of town. It is not as close to the start of most hikes as others, but I didn't mind, it just added an extra km or 2 if walking, but buses are available and the hotel provides a city pass which gives you free or discounted travel. The rooms were good and had all the basic necessities, comfy beds, good pillows and a good shower with body/hair wash, but the room I booked didn't have a fridge or kettle, etc. My double room was two singles put together which was fine just for me, but the gap in the middle would have been annoying for a couple so you might need to check that your room has an actual double bed. The breakfast was also decent, but better to go earlier to get the fresher eggs. I had dinner there twice and enjoyed the food and being able to eat outside in the biergarten. There are fancier places to stay in this town, but the town itself is so beautiful you will want to spend most of your time outside, so for a comfy bed and proximity to the train station, this is a great option.

The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and there were two tiny beds instead of a single double bed. The wifi was barely working. There was no fridge (there was an empty drawer saying "minibar") or a kettle in the room. We asked the staff to give us a kettle but they said they don't have one and we could buy a carafe of hot water for 3€. It was cheaper and easier to order a kettle on Amazon than paying 3€ every time we want to drink nice coffee or tea in our room. The breakfast is from 8am to 10am. I couldn't attend any because I was leaving the hotel before 8am every morning. They have lunch packs for 9€ but it's way too much for a couple of sad sandwiches. My girlfriend had breakfast and didn't like it: there was only cold food and after 9am there wasn't much left, other guests were approaching food without wearing masks.

The location is good: between the train station and the entrance to the Harz national park.
