Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyEverything was fine.
Chlowidgplatz is a very nice and lively part of the city of Cologne, plenty of shops, restaurants, cafeterias, and very well connected with public transportation systems. The hotel is very comfortable, personnel is only there for breakfast, all the rest is explained in notices and messages.

FinlandThe staircase with the heavy luggage was a challenge. The hotel's surroundings were a bit noisy but the hotel provided guests with earplugs. :)
The hotel staff was extremely friendly. Before the trip they answered all my questions very quickly and politely. During the trip my friend lost her key card. We called to the hotel emergency number the hotel had given us. In ten minutes somebody came to give my friend a new card despite that it was 10 pm. The room was quite small but adequate and very clean. The location was excellent: The tram and bus stops were very near so it was an easy access to the city centre. There were a lot of breakfast places and restaurants near the hotel.

New ZealandThe only downside was that because it was pretty warm I needed the windows open, so there was a lot of noise from the street, but they provided earplugs so I can't complain :)
Room and facilities were very nice and exceed my expectations given the price. The person who checked me in was very friendly and went the extra mile to contact me about check-in times.

United KingdomThe only downside is that I went during a hot time of year, and the rooms don't have air-con. Sleeping was tough during especially hot nights. But I adapted and got used to it.
The hotel is in a great location, very European and relaxed, perfect for going out for coffee. I was greeted by a very friendly member of staff who helped me settle in. The room was clean, tidy and quiet. For the price, it's unbeatable. There was a little packet of sweets on my pillow! There are "kiosks" (small supermarkets) all within walking distance that are open all hours, so I never lacked for any supplies when coming back from work. Just around the corner are a couple of great restaurants. There's a taxi rank and a metro station about two minutes' walk away.

GermanyWell, the rooms are ok, not to too much space, but was ok for me for 1-2 nights. Toilet / shower very tight, especially the shower, might become a problem for some people especially if you hare handicapped or little bit stiff from age.
Very fast and comfortable check-in, friendly staff. Room very clean and as expected. Have had a room with backyard window. Location is busy but as expected. After midnight during the week astonishingly quite. Lot of locations to eat around and also good connected to public transport.

United KingdomA minor matter but I returned to the hotel around 11pm and felt the need for a hot drink. Sadly this isn't available once reception closes and I was aware of this, but I wouldn't have anything remotely negative to record - this late-night tea drinking may be a British thing, anyway!😄
I travelled from Manchester UK to a gig at Burgerhaus Stollwerck and found this hotel located around 10 minutes away - I arrived at the central station from the airport and caught the 132 bus directly to Chlodwigplatz. I had read on the website that the hotel is painted green and could see it easily! This is such a relief for a traveller who knows nothing of the local language. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, advising me how to get to the venue later. In the morning I enjoyed a complementary coffee and after realising that I hadn't packed as well as I thought I was also given helpful advice on somewhere nearby to buy a cheap T shirt! I'm glad I had enough time to walk around the local area in the evening and the next morning as it's very pleasant - I was impressed by the old gatehouse in the nearby square. The room was very comfortable and good value - I didn't make use of the cafe located next door for time reasons but there were many places to grab food and drinks nearby which I used before catching a tram back to the station for the next part of my journey.
