Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot really something we did not like but more a note for anyone travelling by car. The hotel has on site parking (not nearby as has been shown on booking.com). It is a few steps from reception but it is very limited and quite tight to get in and out of. If you need parking be sure to contact the hotel when booking.
We have stayed here a few times and although it does not offer the facilities if the big hotel chains it is a great base for a visit to Cologne. For us location, breakfast and comfort are all we want and the Astor scores highly here. The old town is in easy walking distance and good local shops are within a couple of minutes walk. The hotel itself has comfortable, well appointed rooms and now the highlight. The breakfast offering is superb and served in a modern, clean breakfast room. .

SwedenThe rooms was very unpleasant in total, and the fan in the bathroom made it almost impossible to sleep.
THe breakfast would have been €15, after paying €250 for the room, which is less than generous.

SloveniaWe had the rooms in the ground floor which were very quiet, so we had a very good sleep. The location of the hotel is excellent, nearby is all you need. U-bahn is 5min walk away. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of choices. The receptionists ladies were extremly nice!

United KingdomThe area has late nightlife with bars and restaurants and can be noisy late into the night. However, the windows in my room were able to block out the street noise so this was not a problem
Room was spacious & comfortable. A nice breakfast with good selections to suit all tastes. Best of all for me, there was Parking available at the property (for an extra cost 12 Euro per day).

United StatesThere is no Air Conditioning. You must open the windows to get cool air. They do have a fan in the room but you need to open the windows. If you are on the street side and have to sleep with the windows open, it is very loud. Lots of pubs, restaurants and road noise. People party and are loud all night. You will not get very good sleep. This killed it for us. I would not stay here again until they got Air Conditioning installed.
Very clean and easy to find. Located close to shopping and dining.

The lady on the front desk couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming ftom the very beginning of my stay and throughout my time there. Central location, easy to get around with public transport nearby or just by foot if you prefer to walk.

PortugalThe staff (specially the owner) was pretty rude in all interactions. All the forniture in the room was old and the carpet on the room was completely filth with a lot of stains. Apart from that, the room was really hot without any way to cool it down. No air conditioner, no fan. It was literally one of the worst experiences I had in my life. I would not recommend the place to anyone.
Nice view from the room

BelgiumVery polite and efficient staff. Calm hotel, quiet inside and outside, no noise and easy for a comfortable sleep. The room was spacious and clean. It included facilities for instant coffee and tea and there was a fridge, very useful. There was also a complimentary bottle of water. The bathroom was very clean and provided for basic necessities. The shower cabin was somewhat small but not a huge inconvenience and the water pressure was great. Plenty of hot water too. In all, a perfect stay! We wanted to go to a concert at the Gloria and this was very convenient, a mere 5 minute walk. Lots of places to eat around the neighbourhood. I later found out there's also a parking for a good price. Perhaps this could have been advertised a bit more openly, as I wasn't aware and used the big parking up the street instead. But the big parking close by is also a good thing.

BelgiumAll was great. The only thing we missed during our stay - strong coffee for breakfast.
This is an exceptional lovely hotel in a good location not far from Dom, we could see it from the window and enjoy the sound of the bells in the morning. We stayed in a spacious cosy room on the top floor. On the day of arrival there was a bottle of water and some sweets in our room provided by the hotel. The personnel of the hotel is very friendly and attentive. Fresh flowers on the tables in the restaurant.

We have stayed in this hotel many times but not for the last ten years as have tried others in Cologne. Thought it was time to go back and it was a good decision. From the street it is not very impressive. It is on a narrow side street with a small terraced frontage with a roll up door garage entrance. Don't be put off by that. It is a super base for a Cologne visit. If you are travelling by car the first job is to walk the ten paces into reception to ask them to open the garage. Once inside, your car is securely parked within a few paces from the side door to the hotel. Reception staff are really helpful and check in takes but a moment. Our standard room was a few metres from the lift and stairs so no long corridors and the first (and lasting) impression of the room was very good. Very smart decor and the largest double bed known to man. My wife joked that she would have to phone me to talk in the night. A couple of chairs and desk and plenty of storage for clothes. A small TV (with BBC channels), tea and coffee making, plenty of sockets for charging kit and room to move around without falling over each other. The small shower and toilet room had almost boiling hot water within a second or two of turning the tap and a door opened out to a small balcony. No view other than the back of other buildings but useful for smokers. Location is good for easy walking access to the huge town centre shopping and Dom. The old town is a little further away. Just about OK for my 75 year old legs though. Now to the last big plus. The breakfast. The largest selection of breakfast items to be found in a hotel. A selection of cheeses and meats plus smoked salmon slices and too many other items to mention covers all tastes plus fresh coffee served in china pots at the table. All in a very clean modern breakfast room. Finally. The only hotel we have used since COVID that still cleans the room and makes the bed every day !!

HungaryI really had no negative experience during my stay, so I leave this part empty...
The breakfast was absolutely satisfactory. Wide range of choices in perfect quality, in sufficient quantity. It was also already available for those who wakes up early. I was fully satisfied with it. I can say the same about the room. It was clean, comfortable, and contained everything I need for a pleasant stay. The size of the room in my case was bigger than the average and the little terasse was also a great suprise, I enjoyed it very much.

AustraliaOne of the best hotels I've stayed in - value for money, super location, excellent condition in a heritage building, so many thoughtful details - like cleverly designed curtain rails and a swivel TV. You can tell a lot of thought and consideration went into designing each room and its amenities. Staff were also top notch; cannot recommend this hotel enough!!! 5 STARS!
