Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe rooms were smelly and you hear everything from the neigbour rooms. In our case not even the sheets were on the bed we had to do it by ourselfes. It's more a youth hostel than a proper hotel for adults.
The rooms are very simple the neighbourhood is not the best but its close to the next train station which is comfy. Its ok for a weekend.

CanadaQuite dirty, lots of mold in the shower. Kind of a sketchy place overall and my room was mixed with a few creepy individuals. Really small room for 6 beds in my opinion.
Relatively close to the train station, separate bathroom and shower, staff friendly

GermanyOne of the duvet covers had a stain on it which I didn’t notice until the morning. I was able to swamp it out myself. The breakfast is not worth it, over priced and limited basic options. I would recommend checking out some local spots instead. The breakfast staff were not friendly at all.
The room was good, comfortable for the 2 nights we spent there. Lots of activities in the lounge. They had live music and a comedy show on the nights we were staying there. Location was convenient for taking the train to the city centre. Pet friendly. The staff at the front counter were welcoming.

United KingdomI think they were struggling with staffing. Both automatic coffee machines were not working for cards or cash although they would happily take your coins. It would however dispense hot water for free and I had coffee and tea stuff with me so no probs. The Aral gas station across the street is your friend. Good stock of fresh and tinned food and drink and friendly staff.
The bar/lounge was fantastic. Really large and lots of places to sit and plug in your devices. The place is huge so there are lots of different people and types of travellers so you get chatting quite easily, we’re a young family of four and it was great for kids. Rooms were also Ok, decent shower and a good nights sleep. Check in machines weren’t working so there was a stampede for the check in desks and a bit of a free for all. Also heard people complaining to the poor guy at the desk that ‘their room was noisy with the window open’ and they wanted a different one. This kind of person shouldn’t book a cheap hostel. The employee replied ‘we are in a city, all the rooms are noisy if you open the window.’ That made me laugh.

UkraineThe lack of a refrigerator in the room. I had an unpleasant situation. One day, I forgot to wear my watch and left it in the room. When I returned in the evening, it was gone. I didn't leave any other valuable items in the room, as recommended by the administration. I really didn't want to ruin my mood and figure out who stole my watch, so I didn't report it to the reception. But I want to warn everyone not to leave valuable items in the room.
Everything was fine in terms of accommodation. I stayed for 5 nights. Convenient check-in and check-out process. Good WiFi in the room. Comfortable room.

BulgariaThere should be a gender separating option when booking, or at least when checking in. As a female solo traveler, it was a scary and not-so-pleasant experience having to share a room with 5 men.
It's 5 minutes away from Edeka, very close to U-Bahn Station Berliner Tor, 15 minutes on foot to the central railway station. Friendly staff, breakfast option, charging stations.

RussiaStayed at the hotel as a couple for a few days. The self-checkin machines in the lobby did not work, so there was a big queue at the reception. Rooms are not the cleanest, heaters did not work at all so we had to endure the dampness and cold, because of which we did not get a good night's sleep even once. The location is not the most pleasant although in walking distance from the center. Also once the cleaner suddenly broke into our room, but it was our own fault because we did not put up a "do not disturb" sign. The hotel is more like a hostel, perhaps it has seen better days and now it needs renovation.
Staff was nice. The price is acceptable. I think thats it!

GermanyDisappointed with the dirty and dusty room floor, lack of kid-friendly amenities, and a dangerous coat with metal edges that resulted in a serious injury. The room, booked for 2 adults and 1 kid, provided insufficient space, and there was no separate bed for the child.
The welcoming reception area and adjacent kids' zone create a comfortable atmosphere, enhanced by conveniently located shops.

United StatesWe chose this hotel because it had family rooms. We have stayed at a number of hotels that have family rooms - generally functional but no frills - but this hostel is rough. Only two out of four beds had sheets on them. We had to wrestle sheets onto bunk beds. Two of the beds were shoved into an alcove so small you couldn't walk on either side of the bed. Unfortunately the beds had tall foot boards which we had to clumsily climb over to get into the bed. Awkward and difficult. The windows are old and not well insulated so we had to listen to road noise all night long. And the shower had black mold and is in need of a good cleaning. Not at all what you would expect at 167€ per night.

GermanyCouldn't sleep half of the night. You could heard people from other room talking or TV watching till 2 o clock, the heater was loud too. Window are not isolated enough so you can hear the car driving through the streets. If you can't sleep, then it's really not worth any money....
Location was great.
