Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalVery poor quality of rooms. Bathrooms were awful and awkward with no space to put anything. No privacy in bathrooms. Shabby furniture. Rude and unhelpful staff. We asked for empty cups on second night as the cups from that morning were cleared away and we were told “that’s room service and will be charged at €5” or go down and get it yourself 🤦🏻♀️ This was the worst hotel experience ever. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Would struggle to call it even 2 star

GermanyOur room was in an apartment up a steep hill about a 1/4 mile from the main building. This can be dangerous in the winter if you do not have chains. This made going to breakfast at the main building difficult.
The view of the lake was great. The breakfast was good with a menu to order hot food in addition to the bar. The hotel left a morning snack (bread with an apple and a pear) at our door.

SwitzerlandI would expect more from a 'Boutique Hotel' especially at that price point. I travel a lot and I stay in hotels all over the world. The staff was cold. At dinner I did not feel welcome. The women taking the order was friendly, but it could have been in a regular restaurant. The prices were high (I am from Switzerland, so I am used to high prices, but that was unexpected). At the morning buffet, I did not feel welcome either.... The buffet was good, however, with a nice choice. The rooms were small. I was surprised even though I could see the square meters in the description of the rooms. The furniture was good. The bedsheets were too short, the bed too hard, but that is of course subjective to my person. The rooms are not well insulated against noise: I could hear other guests talk and move. Even though I booked two nights I cancelled the second night right after my breakfast. I got a reduction in the fee for the second night (which I did not stay). I know it is common use, but this will definitely change in the future. If I cancel a stay early I normally don't have to pay for services/accomodation I did not consume in other countries. At some point, competition will become too big not to be more customer oriented. I communicated the reasons why I left earlier. From a 4-Star Hotel I expect the focus on the satisfaction of the customers, even if it is letting them go with tge least possible damage...
At night the hotel looks cute from the outside. The wooden structures are nice.

GermanyRestaurant has to be booked even if you are hotel guest. Staff ist not sufficient even though there are free tables. I called at 7 pm and was told to try at 8 pm. I came to the restaurant at 8 pm and was told sorry we are overbooked we did some exceptions but now we can not have you... Why wasn´t i the exception when i called and tried to book but some other people who just showed up. And there are not many possibilities to eat around the area at 8 pm.... So I am forced to order food from outside or run to other locations before they close at 8:30 or 9. This is not a way to go for such a hotel / restaurant. Restaurant is rather expensive. It is good but for such money value and service are not good enough.

IsraelThe air condition is missing, taking into consideration the hottest weather it should be a must. Also, some waitresses were not friendly with non-german speakers. Transparent glass in the bathroom is not suitable for everyone, and the curtain that should cover the glass is transparent. The TV could also be smart. It's not that expensive these days and could significantly improve the experience.
I liked the location and view from the room. Also, the breakfast was good enough.

United KingdomStruggling to see the value of this property and why it cost so much. There are no real nice touches for the money you pay. The property advertises an EV charger but it is a plug and as you can imagine you don’t get a lot of charge from it.

IsraelWe didn’t stay in the main building, it was a mistake. The other buildings are far away and not so accessible by walk. We couldn’t enjoy the hotel facilities (spa, beach, lobby, reception). The room without balcony have a very small window and not so ventilated. Over priced.
The facilities are nice, breakfast is good. Location is excellent.

United KingdomThere was confusion on how to get to the hotel from the nearest train station and what was offered by the hotel in terms of transport. We didn't drive to the hotel, which is about 20 minutes away on foot from the train station, and 5 minutes with bus, but there's only one bus per hour. It says on their website that they offer a free shuttle bus from the train station. Therefore, I messaged them and asked about a possible pick up and they said they could arrange a taxi for us. So I guessed it was not for free and we decided to walk. After we arrived at the hotel, we asked about the pickup and the front desk said they would cover for the cost of a taxi if we had ordered it. The next day at check-out we asked about the shuttle to go back to the train station and the person at the front desk said they don't offer a shuttle but could call a taxi for us. However, they would not cover the taxi fee, which we found very confusing. They offer free shuttles according to their website but in reality we have to walk or pay for our own taxi! At the end, the person at the front desk gave us bus tickets that allowed us to travel within the region for free during our stay but the guy on the first day didn't even mention that, which was frustrating. Another issue was the view from the studio apartment. We booked the large studio for the panorama terrace/balcony to the lake, but the view from the terrace was obstructed because there was another balcony next to us that blocked most of the view. Furthermore, I knew our studio would be located in another building, but it turned out to be 400 meter away and uphill which takes about 7 minutes to walk up.

BelgiumHowever, there is no air-conditioning. As the dividers between the balconies of the adjacent rooms are made as none-locking doorways (they are part of the emergency exit route), we didn't feel comfortable leaving the balcony door open at night. In the bathroom somebody opted to put a make-up mirror equipped with a bright white led in the bathroom which lights up the whole room. On top of that, the light plays some sort of rhythm, causing it to flash with is even more irritating. Ductape and bandages were traces of somebody tried to fix the situation but even that couldn't block out the light. In the end, the only solution we found was to turn off the main switch, cutting power to the entire room (complete disaster if you need to use the bathroom at night). As we didn't want to go restaurant hunting we opted for the half-board solution and that's where things started to go downhill. There was nothing wrong with the quality of the food coming from the kitchen, but they were left down by the staff serving the meals. It seemed as there was no system or coordination. Our first day we had a 3 hour sitting for just four courses. Once we even got told not to sit at a specific table as it was "to difficult to serve" only to see it used and served faster then our assigned table no more then 5 minutes later. Another night, we requested some extra bread and were jokingly told we couldn't have any more... Well, we are still doubting if it was a joke, as we never got the bread, while the waiter went out of his way to quickly serve the dog at the table next to us. A boutique hotel is supposed to give that extra personal touch and connection, yet we felt more welcome and personally engaged in an overcrowded diner down in the tourist area. The dinner experience was really a spoiler on our holiday and we can't help but leave with a feeling that we would have had a far better holiday if we hadn't taken the half-board option.
We booked a stay of 7 nights at this hotel, our first trip since the arrival of Covid, so we were really looking forward to it. The hotel is situated a bit uphill from the touristy center at the bottom of the lake, which means it was not as crowded, exactly what we wanted. Yet, it was still close enough to go down to the boat rental places with a short 10 minute walk. Parking space looked a bit challenging at first sight as sometimes drivers park just everywhere or in any direction or sometimes there is a bus. However, generally speaking, there is plenty of space in front, to the side or across the street from the hotel. The breakfast buffet was wealthy, with fish and cold meats, different sweets and breakfast cereals thee, ... Coffee was brought on request, same for eggs and sausages being prepared as you order them. The ladies tending to the buffet were really nice and polite and understood very well guests like ourselves need some time to wake up. As we didn't want to face a rather steep climb to the apartments, we opted for a room in the main building. We were assigned a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the lake from the balcony. The room was comfortably large enough and the shower was featured in the middle of the room as a sort of an eyecatcher. The room was clean and we met the cleaning staff a few times and they were always nice and friendly.
