Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Netherlands1. Safety issue The elevator is very old. My wife and daughter could not open the elevator door at the 3rd floor and had to move down to the ground floor again. It creaks and trembles. After this happening I found some reviews saying that the elevator was out of operation when they stayed. From my experience and their reviews I think the elevator should be replaced with modern and new elevator, if the hotel is concerned about guest's safety at all. 2. Low quality and service considering hotel price If the the room charge was lower, I might be cautious about mentioning this. However I think people can stay at much better hotels than this hotel at the same price. To me this hotel was just old and shabby. For example it creaked a lot whenever I moved on the floor. While I was going to toilet during the night, my wife and daughter could not but wake up from sleep because of such noisy creaking sound. It seemed also strange they charge 3 euros for small bottle of water in the room, while many other hotels provide bottles of water as complimentary. Also bathroom is very small and if you troubling with family members please think about it. This maybe very personal depending upon his or her body condition, but I would like to say room was not warm. I had to put on my coat during the deep night in the bed in addition to blanket. 3. Unkind hotel staff They were typically unkind.
Easy access to subway station.

United Kingdomthey told us the lift needed repairing but did not tell us that work was being carried out in the room above us. It sounded like someone was roller skating in the room above and lots of heavy banging making the glass chandelier in our room rattle. all at 7am so horrible noises that woke us up abruptly
good location friendly staff great breakfast

PolandI notified the hotel of my late arrival. They said they will leave a key to the hotel and my room in the locker outside. They gave me the code to the locker, but the locker was empty. Their phone line was closed as well. I spent 2 hours at night in the cold in front of the closed hotel doors looking for alternative accommodation in the middle of the night. They replied almost a day later (!), in the afternoon next day, saying it was a mistake and they left a key in the other locker. That was the worst hotel experience in my life. Please avoid this place

NetherlandsThe hotel itself is, well, old. Creaky floors and stairs, and an elevator straight out of the 19th century. There is no air conditioning, although a fan was provided in the room. That makes it not the best place to stay in a typically hot September: if you open doors and windows, the sound from the street next to the hotel is quite loud till deep into the night. Keep them closed and it's cloyingly warm. The beds are very soft, bending too much in the middle to my taste. That's a matter of personal preference of course, but I prefer a harder mattress. The bathroom is quite small. The one time I requested room cleaning, it wasn't the most impressive example I've seen of the practice. I don't really care that much, as I was only staying a few nights, but if you're fussy about that sort of thing, be aware.
Brandies is a pretty old, quaint hotel. You have to know and appreciate that, and you'll have a good stay. The rooms are quite spacious, or at least mine was, with a sitting corner, a separate couch and a desk to work at. My room even had a small balcony with a couple of chairs and a table. Nice to sit at in the evening before bed. The place is understaffed (noone at the front desk later in the evening) but the staff is friendly and helpful nonetheless. The location is quite good if you are visiting a trade show in the Berlin Besse, and it is close to the Kaiserdamm U-Bahn stop which quickly takes you into the heart of Berlin. Also, wifi is hasslefree and quite fast these days (ten years ago I also stayed here and it was, well, dial-up speed), about 250 Mbit/s on Speedtest. More importantly, water pressure and temperature in the shower were quite good in my second-floor room. In all, I'm rating this '5' because Booking says that's 'sufficient'. I'd say '6' would be warranted as well - if you're there in a colder period of the year.

United KingdomI was very disappointed that it wasn’t possible to store my luggage anywhere in the hotel. I had an appointment just around the corner and had to take my bags with me. I’ve been in many hotels, where that hasn’t been a problem. Breakfast was not big choice. I would have expected more for the price. No sausages or meatball like they advertised it on their homepage. Also no herb tea, as I like peppermint or chamomile tea for breakfast.
Nice old house with character. Beautiful bathroom. Lift available. Late check in was possible through key-locker-system.

United KingdomIs on a busy main road but the windows keep most of the noise out. We just like fresh air so had them opened at night.
Very good location - easy to get to the train stations to get round the whole city.
