Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo elevator which if you have heavy luggage and are on the top floor is a challenge (or if climbing stairs is an issue). Top floor room was warm. There was a AC floor unit in the room but it was very noisy.
Lovely hotel. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast (included in the price).

United StatesThe rooms were a bit more difficult to access than we expected. There are a lot of stairs and we were traveling with two people in their 80s.
The breakfast was quite good and it has a lovely view.

United StatesFinding a taxi was a bit of a challenge as this is in the historic old cobble-stoned part of town and cars don't really come by this small street. Plus rideshare didn't seem to be available and the front-desk staff were unfortunately at that time nowhere to be found, so we had to interrupt the nice lady cleaning our room and ask her to call a taxi for us. She was friendly and super helpful and saved the day, making sure we made our train connection in time.
This is a lovely quaint and magical property right next to the Castle Gardens (one of the best spots to walk) in Rothenburg, a short walk from the city center of this small magical medieval town. The building itself is historic and lovely. The welcome was warm from Otto who provided a quick efficient check-in and was available for questions (except on our departure, when we needed a taxi - we had to ask another staff member). Most of all, our ground-floor room exceeded our expectations - large for an old property, a four-poster bed, and a side door leading out to an almost private terrace garden. Despite the historic building, the bathroom was updated and had a nice heated towel rack, and even robes which were appreciated. Breakfast was included and served in the upstairs dining room with great views over the Tauber valley, which made for a magical experience. Plus they offer eggs cooked to order (scrambled, boiled, fried), fresh coffee, and a variety of foods. For the price and service, this is a very special place.

AustraliaThe room was delightful with a four-poster bed and a view into the garden. The heating system was great and the bathroom was good. The hotel has that personal touch typical of German Pension accommodation. It is built into the wall of the city so, the room opens almost directly onto the outer walls. The basement includes a private wellness area with sauna, bath and UV beds available for an additional 30 Euro.

United StatesRooms were very comfortable, location with the city was amazing, staff was outstanding. My mother in law unknowingly left an item in the room when when we checked out, the owner drove it to the train station to give it to us.

NetherlandsWe look forward to returning because there is no where better to stay. The personal touch of a family run hotel is priceless. We had excellent recommendations for activities and restraints. The breakfast was varied and enjoyable as well as authentically German. We already have friends booking at stay because it is in the perfect corner of the walled city -- near the cathedral, close to the main square, right at the beautiful garden gate, and in easy walking to excellent dinner options.

United StatesThis property was absolutely charming! The town of Rothenburg is like a storybook. We had a family of five, two adults, and three teenagers, and booked a family style room. It turns out that we had our own house, multilevel, just up the road from the main entrance to the hotel. Our doors opened up to a grand backyard of topiary and grass, with a view of the wall and tower beyond. Some of the accommodations were a bit dated, but that was to be expected in this type of older hotel, and we did not mind at all. It was clean, and the washer and dryer were an added bonus to do some laundry before the next leg of our trip. The owners father, Otto, could not have been more delightful, or helpful. He made sure to offer the chance to order breakfast for a reasonable price, and allowed us to stay in the house a little longer while our laundry finished drying. He was a pleasure to speak with. We adored this town, and our piece of the hotel. Also, if you had someone who could not climb the stairs, there was a downstairs bedroom that you could add to your reservation, otherwise it was locked.

Exceptional hotel with a friendly staff and great location. We loved our roomy suite which had a terrace that was part of the old wall. The location is excellent just a quick walk outside the bustle of the Christmas markets but close enough to shopping, restaurants, etc. Rothenburg is exquisite and this hotel is a gem. Highly recommend and I can't wait to return.
