Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe fees do not correspond to the locations which is dodgy. Unfortunately the pictures online do not represent reality. There was no fridge in the room. The common spaces were relatively dirty. There were no furniture in the rooms apart from one chair for someone to leave its stuff/clothes. Although the check-in was at 3PM, a technician had to come and mount the hairdryer to the wall while we were at the room. During the second day I was informed by the reception that our electronic key was deactivated and we had to pass from the reception which was located in an other building to get the new key for no particular reason.

ItalyThe hotel is a bit noisy. Our room was facing the inner courtyard and a ventilation unit, which was running all the time and we could hear the vibrations from the nearby metro.. In addition to that, there was a weird smell inside the room.
The hotel is located near the main station, which it makes quite convenient to travel around the city. Rooms and toilets are clean.

FinlandThe shabby and load elevators engine room was apparently right nest to our room, so every time somebody took the elevator it sounded very loudly into our room. My partner slept nothing that night. I put earplugs and slept, since I am not so sensitive to sound. The elevator was shabby. And the whole street full of heroinists. But I guess that is Hamburg trainstation area in a nutshell according to my 2 stays there during an interrail.
We got a room on the top floor and had a big private balcony, which was an awsome surprise. The elevator up was shabby and loud, but the room was very clean. Key pick up is always before 22, not possible after so please arrive in time.

CanadaLocated on an exclusively ethnic street. I was the only white woman surrounded by men of colour, mainly Muslim. I did not feel threatened, but did feel out of place.

BelgiumThe hall smelled quite bad..but the room..smelled like a fries shop! In fact the exhaust of a kebab place is right outside your window, and the smell comes in the room and it's quite intense. The check-out is at 10:00am but the cleaning lady opened our door at 8:30am and 9:30am with the key, waking us up! A lot of noises kept us awake during the night. You pay what you get I guess.
Many toilets on the floor and they were clean. 2 mins from Hamburg Central Station. The neighborhood is quite alive during the day, full of friendly people. Price is low.

GermanyYou have to go to another address to check in and then go to the building where your room is located 1 block away. Is so hard to find the front desk to check-in due when you arrive to the address they give you, there is no signs that indicate where the front desk is, you have to guess. Some of the shared baths smelled so bad. There was too much noise in the first floor due if you open the window you'll hear the air conditioning system of the next building.
The room was clean and comfortable. I don't have too much more to say.

GermanyThe entrance stinks like cigarette smoke and pee, the curtains are not broad enough to cover the whole window (it was difficult to make them stay in a way that nobody from the other side of the street can look into my face when laying in bed), after someone made our bed we had hair in it, the shared facilities are not quite pleasant, and we paid quite a lot of money for a really small room without the option to get breakfast (~350 Euro for 2 people and 2 nights). The check-in was (even though everything was paid already) taking 25 minutes with a friendly, but reeeeeally slow working guy at the reception.
I did like the location, it is quite near the main station and easy to travel in the city. I liked the bed and the pillows, actually. Also the room itself looked quite clean when we entered, and the air in the room itself was fresh.

Bulgaria• There is no Wi-Fi. • The guests were very loud until early in the morning, banging on walls and screaming. I checked multiple times if my door was locked to be sure. • There was only one key for the front door, the door of the apartment and the door for my room. • The shower sewer was clogged and the shower cabin not very clean. • The region is very loud and dangerous, I didn’t feel safe. • Staff wasn’t helpful when I asked to check in earlier or leave my luggage. They just said that before 15:00 o’clock there would be no one there. When I asked further they were answering only with automatic messages. • The Radiator was working the first hour and then stopped. • The room is ok for a place to sleep and leave right after.
The location is great for travelers. 5 minutes away from the central station
