How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Not clean. Room smelling really bad Noice was terrible: this hostel is right next to a disco club, don't go there if you want to sleep well! It looks like you litteraly are IN the club. In the morning, after the noice of the night club during the night, there was a lot of noice due to works in the streets. In conclusion, we were not able to sleep at all.

The staff was indifferent and not friendly. There was no option for breakfast as it was written in the website. There were three showers but one was broken and other one was clogged. There were no locker free for me in my bedroom and the staff couldn't help me with this.
Good location and easy to arrive by train/subway.

I didn’t like anything. I totally disappointed. Sockets for charging are some beds not all of theirs. The reception is on second floor. Bathrooms seem clean but you couldn’t find hanger. 15.00 for Checkin time is inappropriate especially who come the hostel after long night trip.
I just liked our mutual Turkish language.

The staff was very rude, it was mentioned breakfast available on booking.com but they said due to covid its not, no common area, bathroom were dirty no lock in washroom just keep your hand all time so nobody can enter. Room was somehow better. But overall not worth value.

Staff by check out was a unpleasant person, we left the hostel with bad feelings.
It was my second time here. Returned because location is good (Checkpoint Charlie just in the neighborhood), cheap price, enough big rooms. Bathroom enough clean and big. The staff by check in was kind and helpful.

Hot water is for money, women showers were not working and i used men shower (without door that could be closed). No place to eat to where person can keep their products.
The hostel is in the very center, the room was full of men - 9 men (and I am alone woman there), who were very noisy. Personnel was friendly and gave locker for free (thanks!). Very cheap price for Berlin. It was very convenient to take bus to Airoport from there in night.

All the beds very dirty and they can change the bedsheets. Theirs a lot of flying on the bed I couldn’t sleep there I have to checkout and go for another hotel to sleep in the night. please I want my booking money back thanks

staff was rude and unprofessional, rooms were not tidy (a lot of people complained about it), sheets, pillows and blankets are raggedy! they need to go asap! bathrooms were always dirty, there’s no place to charge your electronics (2 outlets per room is enough, I guess).

Everything I just found clumsy.
This place you can choose if only in very tight budget, then too if you are not visiting in Christmas to New year, you will get much better price in other place too. It also doesn't match with the price.

The room was not well-maintained, staff was rude, women's shower was broken which forced everybody to shower in the same bathroom, the toilet was very dirty, no common space to have meals, no offered kitchen (only for staff). Also we only had one card to enter the room, even though we booked two beds, which made logistics even more annoying.
The location of the hostel, having a superkmarket right beside it, and a couple of restaurants in the same block. Also being really close to a major touristic attraction that is Checkpoint Charlie.

Rooms and bathrooms super dirty and smelly, no electricity plugs next to the beds, only 3 plugs in a room of 10 beds! not allowed to eat in the lobby so everyone eating and drinking inside the rooms! Majority of people here are families with their kids staying long term, it's not a hostel at all! I changed after the first night immediately.

The fact that the first question I was asked was “Are you Muslim?” which I’m not - as a result I got the worst bed in the dirtiest room You should warn that the hostel is more welcoming to Muslims in advance
