How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Car parking was expensive, but out of the hotels control. I would not expect anything less given that were right in the centre of Cologne though so it is not a bit downside!
The location was fantastic, right in the heart of Cologne and the cathedral close by. We were there for the Christmas market and we came out of the hotel straight into it! It could not have been better. Shopping. pubs, restaurants all very close and the staff were incredibly friendly. Excellent all round.

We were visiting Cologne for the 2023 Christmas Markets and booked this location based on it's location to the Cathedral district where most of the markets are set. We were shocked to find on of the largest markets a mere 25 feet from the hotel entrance! The staff at the front desk and restaurant were professional and very nice with all interactions. The room was very spacious and comfortable. It would be considered a suite inside the US. Always clean and the housekeeping staff was exceptional and very discreet in taking care of the room while we were stayed.

We booked a superior room. Tea/coffee facilities in the room would have make it perfect. Towels were a little thin but functional.
Perfect location in the old town. In the shadow of the Dom and railway station. Excellent for those going for Christmas markets. Hotel breakfast is superb, you’ll want for nothing.

For a 4* hotel the room amenities were modest. Toiletries were limited (only shampoo/hand/bodywash) and no coffee/tea making facilities was provided even in a superior room. We stayed also in a comfort room which was just a bit smaller than the Superior room. Superior wasn't value for money but comfort room is okay.
Breakfast was good, lots of choice incl. fresh fruits and vegetables. Great location if you wish to stay in the city center. Also the distance to Lanxess Arena is only 2 km so you can take the Hohenzollern Bridge and easily walk there.

I wasn't as impressed with the breakfast to be honest. It was very basic for the price but that would be the only thing.......

Not a big deal for me cos I am a tiny human. But the room size is really small. Bathroom is nice tho, couldn’t complain.

Clean rooms, fantastic location, staff didn't charge me when I lost my room key after losing my wallet. Complementary water in room every day. Free sweats in room which came in handy as a diabetic!

Rooms are super small - although I only reserved a single room as traveling alone. But very functional and the bathroom was large. Overall worked well and could not get a better location. If you need a bit of room and not so concerned about budget suggest you reserve a larger room.
