How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

check in was not working, had to call the manager and after almost half an hour someone was getting here and also couldnt find our reservation, but after 15 minutes they did finally

No disappointment from my side - but read hotel info carefully before booking. There is a sink in every room, but 6 toilets and 6 showers on each floor. More hostel-type accommodation with single and double roomas, so don't expect comfort.
The cheapest hotel in Bochum, short walk from U-bahn with bus stop in front of the hotel. Very simple, mostly for one-night stays, but If you're on budget, it's almost two times cheaper than other hotels in town. Friendly staff and good Wi-Fi. Bed was ok.

The staff was not very kind. We arrived the city later than we expected. Called the hotel to say maybe we could be late. And the answer was: "Check in closed after 22.00 pm. If you are late, this is not our problem." And also they were not very helpfull for other topics. For example, they did not show where are the toilets and showers. It was not hard to find. But if they want to be hospitable to your guest, it is nice to show.
The room was very small but has everything needed. Wc and shower and room vas clean.

We could have taken 1 room for 3 people but the booking website did not say that all the rooms had a king-size bed and a single bed.
Very clean. Only sink with a mirror in the room. Toilets and bathrooms are shared for the whole floor.

It cost too much for such a small room. Uncomfortable bed. You can hear everything in the room. Very unpleasant smell in the room. Breakfast was not fresh either. For one night for 2 people, 80 euros is too much. I don't recommend this place

The rooms are just as depicted in the images, quite spacious as well. The self check-in system is convenient once to know it exists.

Nice renovate roadside hotel, the only one in Bochum area with prices below EUR 70 - great option for travellers on budget. Recently renovated rooms, large parking lot and really helpful owner. You get what you pay for - clean room with two beds, fresh and new pillows and sheets, sink in the room, clean toilets and showers in the hallway. Don't expect luxury, but Bon Marche Bochum is better than several places in town which advertise their comfort, charge around EUR 70, and you get the same basic room - but here in Bon Marche it was sparkling clean. Automatic check in for those arriving late. The owner goes above and beyond when you need any help. I have travelled to Bochum many times this year, but budget-wise this is the only reasonable option, if your company is not paying your bills :) Good transport connections: 6 minutes walk to U-Bahn + bus stop 100 metres from hotel.

The bed was crawling with insects. There was no staff available at all for 7 hours during the night and no one to call to get a different room. Had to sit in the infested room for 7 hours. At least 15 bugs all over the sheets, absolutely disgusting.

I have one main complaint. I smelled a lot of smoke in my room and therefore I could not sleep half the night. This is unaccceptable to me.

There wasn't a reception and a receptionist even. There wasn't a bar and a kitchen and also breakfast. There was a sink in a room but no tissue and no handsoap. There wasn't even a lobby. So it was terrible and terrible and expensive

Very basic however if only given proper clean would be ok, the sheets had stains, the hair dryer in the shower which is on the corridor was on and off whole night which was disturbing,felt uncomfortable overall.
