Checking in was a farce. The self check in facility was confusing and time consuming . The room was on the top floor with no elevator, not good for two over 80's. There. Was no reception nor anyone to ask. The only person we met was the cook(?) On the morning of departure who informed us that we had not ordered breakfast but it could be provided at an additional cost of 20 euro. We were not happy and wish to cancel our booking for Oct 9/10 next week.

The beds were comfortable and looked newly refurbished.

Hotel itself has seen better days, a few broken things here and there.. temporary repairs to things etc... needs some extra care in places.

Good sized room and very clean. Hotel is close to a nice park for the dogs.

It's a shame that the restaurant has not been able to open for evening since Covid. It's a good looking place. So dinner (or lunch) not available Be aware that the whole of Alt Marl now closes very early. I arrived at 9pm on Thursday. Not a single restaurant was open. Mirena does have a vending machine for cold drinks and snacks.

Hotel mirena is SPOTLESSLY clean. The owners are very helpful and flexible. Although they don't describe themselves as being able to speak English, the lady of the house is much better than she says. Breakfast was very good,, and plentiful. Make sure that you pre-order though. It's not available "on the day". My bedroom, and ensuite shower room, was very spacious. The location great, just a few metres from several restaurants and shops. Having visited Alt Marl many times over more than 20 years, I know several restaurants are good. I was there for a friend's funeral. The cemetery is directly across the road.

Unfortunately, the cleaning lady already started knocking at the door around 9:30, which seems to be a pattern based on other comments. Considering the official check out time is stated at 11:00, it’s quite unpleasant to be “kicked out” earlier.

The stay was a pleasant surprise! I passed by that hotel for years and it was my first time staying. The beds are comfortable and the room very clean. The self checkin was very convenient, no long waiting times or documents to be shown. You could just pick up the key from the key board and enter your room.

Shower operation was greatly variable between hot and cold. Hotel is close to busy road, and without fans or air conditioning, this could be an issue for some on a hot day. Fortunately the owner had the place aiready aired out prior to our arrival.

Breakfast was an excellent assortment. Room was spacious, clean and curtains and shutters in good operational condition. Access to room is easy and well-organized.

We thought to have breakfast, but there was no one at the reception to ask for it. Maybe it was because of Easter holiday.

We got two connected rooms (family room option) which was perfect for us with kids. Everything was very clean. Rooms are renovated and spacious. Parking in front. We came after check-in time and keys were waiting for us.

The check in and check out process wasn't clearly explained. I had not seen any member of staff who could have helped me on the premises and had then called the number given to be assisted. The people on the phone had helped but overall it was a hassle the fact there were no employees present nor an explanation on the walls of the check in and check out process for the hotel.

The room and beds were lovely, clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable and the shower was fantastic. Great location for public transport and free parking is a bonus too
