Could have done with a bit more lighting the facade isn’t illuminated at all and very dark when arriving in winter especially in the evening. Also not very Christmassy. No lift either, only for luggage’s.

The only thing that spoiled my stay was the rain that started just as I arrived and only ceased when I was leaving – nothing can be done about it, but an outside covered smoking area away from the main door where I could have enjoyed my evening cigarette may have helped :)

A lovely historic building situated in parkland on the banks of the Saar river. The room was clean and well proportioned and nicely furnished. The ground floor circulation areas were of the highest standard and a relaxing place to sit with an evening drink. The staff were very attentive, check-in and out were very efficient. Free parking is available for guests and I felt that my motorcycle was in a safe place. There is information available on the family who established the guesthouse and the origins of their business with some artefacts available to view in museum style display cases.

The rooms at the top can get quite hot and it would be nicer to have carpet on the floor instead of wood.

We love staying at this hotel, which beaks our journey. The breakfast is excellent and of course they use Villeroy and Boch china, which is due to the fact the hotel was built originally by the owners of Villeroy and Boch

Bed could have better mattress and there was mainly bathtubs with showered no actual shower.

Slightly complicated when arriving after 6pm since you need to get the key from the guard at the main administration of Villeroy&Boch. But in the end wasn’t an issue. Small issue: scrambled eggs at breakfast should be covered, they were dry. Made probably of egg powder, and not fresh to order, this makes them less attractive.

Due to the planing and organising of an event, the staff were a bit stressed during the breakfast and needed a bit longer. But overall a beautiful gem und excellent place to stay.

Wonderful peaceful location, great views from the room. Very spacious and lovely decorated. The house has its own unique flare.The garden is also very beautiful.

It’s not every day you get to stay in a beautful castle! The location is perfect if you want to combine your visit with a hike, e.g. the beautiful Saarschleife Tafel. The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom very modern. The dinner on the terrace was fabulous and service excellent. The breakfast was good.

Schloss Saareck is an absolute amazing experience. You have to be able to put your mind to what it used to be and then it feels like time travel.

The room was rather cold. Radiator did not function. missing toiletries for two. No slippers. There was a strong odour in some corridors.

We stayed on the top floor and the floor (Wood) was extremely loud when you walked around in the room. The Wifi was also terrible, but this might have something to do with the fact that we were on the top floor of course.

Amazing location, amazing property, friendly staff and great food. Will definitily come back but next time in Summer as we can imagine how amazing it must look during this time of the year.

My only gripes were the strong smell of the cleaning products in the downstairs toilet that tend to hit you when you walk in, and can permeate the next level a bit more than they should; the winter weight of the duvet which was too hot for me (provide a lighter alternative?); and not having a self-contained bar-type space to sit by a fire and have a drink before, or after, dinner--that would have made everything just perfect. (You can sit in the entrance area outside the restaurant--it's grand but not that cozy.)

We were delighted with the queit and idylic location of the guest house: in its own park, looking back over the river towards lovely Mettlach. The guesthouse was also charming and had a real sense of history and the Belle Epoch about it. The Villeroy & Boch wares in use and on display were welcome. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant and were very appreciative of the staff member's wine knowledge and recommendation: the 'Black Print' from Pfalz was delicious!

Stairs throughout: the only tiny elevator is for freight only, though I did use it to take my heavy suitcase up to the room, and down at the end of my stay.

The setting is wonderful--an early 20th century industrialist's home set in a huge meadow-like park on the bank of the Saar river. The building was constructed with excellent materials: oak parquet floors. marble wainscotting. coffered wooden beam ceilings in the public rooms. All the tableware at dinner and breakfast in the formal dining rooms are excellent: not a surprise when I learned that it owned by the Villeroy & Boch company, whose factory in Mettlach makes it all!

We had an absolutely amazing stay in the castle! Room was very authentic; bathroom is modern with all comfort. The staff was absolutely brilliant and very very helpful! Highly recommended!

-Maype point out, that you will have a tough time closing the windows panels that block all the sun light, really is not much of a thing.

-Charming place, all well kept in that traditional old style. -Plenty of space to walk around and relax.

A Fridge in the room with kettle. PLUS be useful to have curtains and carpet!!! Also the room was far to hot, it needs air conditioning. We are extremely fit, but climbing 3 flights of stairs with luggage would definitely be difficult for less fit people Please accept the above as constructive criticism to make the place even more attractive. In order it would be preferable to have the following: 1. Air conditioning 2. Fridge and Kettle 3. Curtains 4. Carpet 5. Lift

This was a real gem of a find. Beautiful Hotel building set in its own grounds with its own river frontage. Not far off the motorway so a great plvcae to stop on a drive down through Europe.
