Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDisorganised. Confusion over room on arrival and sent to someone else's room. Our room was not made up when we found it and we had to wait for the cleaner to arrive. Water in room was not replaced. Difficult to communicate as owners' English not strong.
Excellent location, lovely view of beautiful river from beer garden. Nice breakfast.

AustraliaParking. Typical of ancient cities, car parking is tricky, the best way is to ask the hotel staff where to park. Also, the hotel has no lifts so don't pack anything heavy.
The room is comfortable, and well designed to maximise storage. The bathroom is a pleasure to use. The staff was helpful. The hotel restaurant serves great food, especially the soups, and breakfast is nicely catered in the morning. The hotel is also in a great location to see the beautiful river Wornitz snaking through the town centre.

United KingdomRoom was a warm and church bells were very loud at 7am! Staff very nice, but not much English, and our German is poor, but we worked everything out.
Beautiful old building with modernised rooms. clean and comfortable, though a ceiling fan would help the heat. Lovely terrace by the river, wholesome food and a nice breakfast.

RomaniaThe pension has a restaurant with traditional cuisine, but was close in that evening, due a private event. We were informed about this before arriving so I cannot complain. But the other restaurant mentioned by the host as an alternative to have dinner, was also closed that evening, so the only place to eat in Harburg was a pizzeria, even you are on the german Romantic Road.
Very clean room with Castle view. Unfortunately the old part of the village is under restoration so the streets were in construction. But, the view is so beautiful. Free parking place in the front of the house. Very friendly and helpful host.

BrazilVery Nice hotel in the river side. We had a room with a view to the river, which was very nice. Staff was very welcoming and spoke good english. They have a nice balcony over the river to have a beer after a long day. If you need, they store bikes in a closed room. Beautiful view of the castle from the bridge next to the hotel. We loved to stay a night in this little town.

BulgariaI have no special comments, but I think that if an armchair and a small refrigerator are added to the room (there is space), it will be more comfortable. I didn't see an air conditioner, I don't know if it will be hot in the summer, but there is a mosquito net on the window, which is very good. The city clock chimes every hour and that might be a problem for someone, especially at night. But if the window is closed, it is almost inaudible. I didn't mind with the window open either.
The location of the hotel is excellent - right in the center of the old town, on the river bank, with a great view of the river and everything around it. The town itself (I mean the old town where the hotel is) is very nice. The train station is about a 5-6 minute walk from the hotel and there is a bus stop on the other side of the bridge in front of the hotel. The breakfast is very good, there is a variety. They don't offer vegetables, but there was fresh fruit, good coffee, milk, tea, fruit juice. You can dine in the hotel restaurant at reasonable prices. The staff is very kind, everyone is smiling and responsive. The view from the window of my room - in front of my eyes, on the hill is Harburg Castle. The castle can be reached in about 10-15 minutes from the church along the lane up the hill. The castle is interesting, there is a nice view from it of the city below, the river and everything around.

SwedenWe had made a reservation, and in advance noticed the hotel that we were arriving after reception hours. The staff instructed us to email a 4-digit code to pick up the key from a box. We did so, but never got any confirmation on this email, nor did anyone answer the phone during the whole day for arrival. Once we arrived, we discovered that the code we sent did not work. We could hear a key in the box, but this was soon picked up by another guest arriving late. After this, it was obvious that the box was empty. The hour was late, there was no(!) way to get in contact with the hotel staff, and no telephone number to get in contact was to be found. Luckily we managed, with help from kind locals, to find another room for the night - which was pure luck since most hotels were fully booked. There was not even a good explanation from the hotel afterwards. One of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
