Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe location is situated very close to the see, but is difficult to reach by car, no parking at the hotel. During our stay the electricity failed twice. Staff is doing their best, but the hotel is not up to the best standard.

SwedenThere was a foul smell in our room and service at the restaurant was a bit sloppy (probably due to it being very busy).
Nice family run hotel with homely vibe and great location. The downstairs restaurant is a nice spot.

SlovakiaThe only thing I could think of were the stairs to the rooms - it might be quite an exercise for bit older people if they want to get to their room.
Great location, right next to the beachfront and port of Sassnitz; and also very close to the hiking trails to Jasmund national park (main reason of my visit to Rugen). Hotel is comfortable enough, good value for money. I especially appreciate the hotel staff - they were very nice and attentive. I could tell that they are doing their work with love and dedication.

United KingdomHowever, we were quite disappointed with our stay, particularly due to the lack of sea view. The presence of trees obstructing the window prevented any glimpse of the sea, and when I inquired about a different room, I was informed that all rooms faced the same issue and nothing could be done about it. It would have been more accurate to advertise the rooms as sea front facing rather than with a sea view. Furthermore, I encountered difficulties with the shower. The shower head would only stay fixed in one position and could not be adjusted, which made the showering experience quite uncomfortable. Additionally, only one key was provided for our room, and despite requesting a second key, none was made available to us. Lastly, it would have been a nice gesture to provide complimentary water in the room. This small amenity is often expected in hotels and would have been appreciated. Therefore, overall, these aspects of our stay had a negative impact on our experience and left us feeling dissatisfied.
We really enjoyed our breakfast experience! The variety of options available was great, and we appreciated being able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and sea view while eating. The room itself was impressive too – it was spacious, well-maintained, and had really comfortable beds.

SwedenWater beds i the room! Very soft. Double beds narrow. Window shutters too thin to hold out the morning sun. You awake very early in the summer....Food in the restaurant is unfortunately overrated. Had higher hopes, based on reviews...No private parking You have to pay in a nearby garage. Expect 15€ for one night stay.
Setting by the fishing port and seaside. Nice surroundings, perfect for walks and jogging. Nice service staff in the restaurant. Easy access.

PolandThere is no lift, which wouldn't be a big problem, but walking in to a hotel with the bags, little child and a baby stroller through the crowded restaurant is not comfortable at all. Also, there were no shampoos in the shower. And there's no free parking for the guests.
The staff was very friendly and nice. The location is perfect, 10/10.

GermanyLoading food from the vehicle to the restaurant goes in the early morning through the front door just below the room. It was very loud because fridge vehicle didn't not shut down its engine. Personal almost do not speak English. The front door was closed in the later evening. We couldn't find the door to the rooms for a long time. Nobody warned us about it. There was no shampoo/shower gel in the bathroom, only soap and a moosassel on the floor.
Breakfast was with a great variety and tasty.
