Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryA bathroom was a little bit small. Besides when I asked for plant milk at breakfast the woman didn't understand it (not speaking English) so I didn't get it.
There was a helpful and kind receptionist who was speaking English very well. The location was great, close to the underground and the old town. The breakfast was fine, with enough options of meats, cheese, and fruits.

AustriaNo air conditioning. Was not required but I imagine with the summers getting warmer it might be an issue. Breakfast was simple, nothing fancy. Its about 4 train stops into central/old Nuremberg with plenty of fancier food options.
Looks like I got a new room. Bathroom was spotless. Excellent firm mattress ( I don't like the fancy softer ones). Close (2 train stops) to conference and the train was every few minutes

NetherlandsSince the window overlooks the road, it is quite noisy at night and difficult to sleep with window open. I have found a web on a bedside lamp. The pillows are so soft that they dissolve under the head.
Vending machine with beer near a hotel entrance though we didn't try it. Parking space for cars. Shutters on the window keep room dim during the day.

United KingdomThe bed was a bit squeaky :) Given the occasion of our stay - Rock im Park -, the breakfast times were a bit early. It seemed that everybody tried to stay in bed as long as possible and went for breakfast at quarter to ten. The breakfast room was very crowded then. But the staff made an effort to still provide enough for everyone. :) thank you

United KingdomMore a bunk room than a hotel room. Small but OK for a couple of nights. Bed hard and pillow very thin and uncomfy. Very pricey for what it was IMHO. I think the hotel was using "market flexible" pricing as we were staying for a big exhibition and the hotel was taking advantage of this more than a bit.
Breakfast good. Close to subway for getting into centre (runs under hotel so odd background rumble from this)

United Arab EmiratesI recently booked a stay at Hotel Gerhard for almost a week stay, and unfortunately, my boss had an extremely unpleasant experience that compelled me to share our concerns. Upon arrival, the staff at the hotel treated my boss rudely, showing a complete lack of hospitality and professionalism. Despite attempting to address the situation calmly, the response from the hotel employees was far from satisfactory. To make matters worse, my boss was forced to pay for alleged damages that, upon closer inspection, were baseless and unfounded. The hotel staff failed to provide any evidence to support their claim, and it became apparent that this was an attempt to extort money. What shocked us even more was the threat to call the police and evict my boss. Such actions are entirely unacceptable and unprofessional. No guest should feel threatened and unwelcome during their stay. We expected a level of customer service and respect that was sorely lacking at Hotel Gerhard. It's disheartening to see a business engage in such behaviour, and I feel compelled to warn others about our negative experience. We strongly advise potential guests to reconsider booking at Hotel Gerhard, as there are surely better options in the area that prioritize customer satisfaction and ethical business practices.

GermanyStaff at the reception. Whenever I asked a question (I asked only twice), he came from a back room behind the reception and looked at me with an expression like "what do you want, why are you disturbing me". My question about car park was not taken seriously and he said I can park by the street or across the street, it is fee anyway!
The lady who is serving breakfast was really nice and smiling :)
