Absolutely nothing

We loved that the apartment had direct access to the garden and many walks in the surrounding forest for ourselves and our dogs. Perfect! Dinner and breakfast were wonderful and we could even take the dogs in the restaurant. Could not have asked for better!

The areas between the rooms and restaurant are outside and tend to get very muddy and dirty. More gravel on the paths might help the situation.

The hotel is in the country and quite picturesque. The estate has a few local businesses in the out buildings. Unfortunately all the shops were not open when we were there. The restaurant and breakfast are in the old stables and the staff were friendly and the food very good.

There is no electrical outlet near the desk, which is inconvenient.

The room is big enough, clean and hygienic, and the surroundings are nice and quiet.

Although this is a farmhouse ("Gut"), the room we got was a few hundred meters from the farm. While very quiet and nice in itself, it didn't have the charm of why we actually selected this over the rest of the places... So it doesn't look even close to the photos around. The place didn't look full so we wondered why we were given that room far away. The 'fridge' is a joke. It's a tiniest thing that makes lots of noise and hardly cools.

We were there for a family occasion nearby so the location was good for us. Room was comfortable and heating worked well.

Extremely friendly staff, great variety of breakfast, good location, confortable beds and beautiful place/area. We arrived very late (way after check in time) and the stuff came to the property personally, gave us beers and we felt truly that we were welcome there. Such a feeling makes a huge difference! So thank you for that!

Nicer apartment on the surface but the shower a disaster as the water didn’t run down at all and we had water all over the floor even in the living room. None else of my family could use the shower. It took my morning and all towels to clean it. Otherwise the water would have run down the stairs. We had to leave early in the morning. This issue should have been known by the staff. That’s why I’m not happy

It is a nice place and restaurant very good. I think we where unlucky this time. First time was ok with a lower standard of the room because the price was really good. We went back because we liked it and it is easy and safe to park the car.

The service at check-in and restaurant is a disaster. Everytime we are here, it seems to be getting worse. Honestly this is the most unfriendly and incompetent staff, I have ever experienced. No idea, how these people got to hospitality business. The best what you can get from them is to be ignored, the worst is when they try to execute your order (luckily, in 99% of your time, you will be ignored). I know, it's hard to find people nowadays, but you would be better off with automatic check-in and closed restaurant. They would no repel the customers.

Whenever I need a stay in Hamburg area, I choose Gut Basthorst. The accomodation facilities (we already tried many variants of appartments) are fantastic. Plenty of space, very clean, full of facilities, the gardens. Greaty value for many. But...
