..Getting there later than foreseen, but that was unpredictable. Yet, my host made it easy and beyond welcoming for me to get into their property.

The location, meeting my host the very next day, and being warmly greeted by them added to being given some suggestions and directions about visiting the area.

Really nice apartment for 2 person. We survived the closing of everything in Christmas thanks to the kitchen. The location is just right next to the center of Monschau. The host is absolutely friendly and helpful. The owner family made sure that we got everything we needed.

We had a great stay at Haus Barkhausen during our Christmas holidays! We stayed in one of the smaller apartments: Gartenblick. It was very nice, clean and comfortable, with charming old furniture and provisions for the kitchen, and very well heated for the winter. It was very easy to get there with the bus, as the apartment is very close to the city centre. Our host was also very easy to reach. Will definitely stay again there if we visit Monschau in the future!

Beautiful old apartment with all the necessary modern living amenities. A very short and easy stroll to the centre. Communication with the host is good. I would highly recommend staying at the apartment. It is peaceful.

The pillows were very soft on the beds, would be great to have some firmer options for those who are a little more picky.

The location of the apartment was perfect, just a short walk down the hill into town. The host called to make sure that we had checked in ok and that was a nice touch. The apartment was lovely and cosy, lots of period furniture and some lovely historic pictures and photographs. The kitchen was very well equipped with fridge, freezer and coffee machine, (with beans!) and everything else you would need. Would recommend a stay at Haus Barkhausen.

Location was stunning. The view from the windows out over the valley filled with trees was amazing. The sound of the river below wonderful We had a daily visit from a young deer out the back of the kitchen window.

No real bad points - the apartment has some steps to get into it as it's on the first floor and a couple of our party had some minor mobility issues. But we knew that before we went so we were prepared.

The apartment is large and traditional and was well stocked with everything there that we required. The wifi was very good and we had our own allocated car parking spot next to the building which helped. Monschau itself is very pretty and the centre a 5 mins walk from the apartment. Johannes (the owner) was available whenever required.

The floors in the apartment are not even, but this is quite well explainable by the age of the house. Everything was good for three healthy adults, but the house is not well suited for disabled and elderly people and people with small children.

The cleaning fee is a little high but I understand it's a very small town so there are probably not many options.

What an amazing find just outside the center (just 5 minutes walk). Loved that you could hear the babbling river from the bedroom. The lodge is rustic but that's exactly what we loved about it, everything was clean i.e the beds, linens and towels. Beds were very comfortable. The parking spot is also very handy in a town with not a lot of parking, although hopefully you are a confident driver because it is a little tight.

Some minor details,like a loose clothes hook in the sleeping room or missing bed table on the left side. Besides that all fine.

There are not many things to complain about. The water stream in the shower was rather weak - maybe it could bother some people. The floor in the house was sometimes a bit uneven (probably because it is a very old house) - it didn't bother me, but maybe some people would mind it more.

The location is quiet and peaceful and very close to the town. The parking place is within 5 minutes stroll. The house is very warm and cosy, nicely old-style - with a soul, so to speak. I really liked it, it brought back some childhood memories. The facilities in the house are very good - fully equipped kitchen, perfectly working kitchen equipment, huge fridge, very nice coffee machine. The communication with the host was very good, he was extremely friendly and helpful.

Everything was perfect.

The apartment was well appointed; everything was thought of. Kitchenware was of good quality and there were many unique options that are usually not found in rentals. The apartment we rented was on the first floor, the Bel Etage, and it was completely charming and quite large, with tall ceilings and large rooms. The location was good, just a short walk to the town square, and also some hiking trails in the hills. We were surprised how many cute shops were in the town. We went to the Aachen Weihnachtsmarkt but ended up finding more in the Monschau shops for Christmas gifts. The landlord was very attentive and helpful.

I personally found the bed mattress a bit too soft, so I was sinking in. Combined with the room floor not being horizontal, it was slightly awkward. My girlfriend had no issues with it.
