Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing. Everything was exactly as expected and even a little more.
Very clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice sauna, bath and showers. The place is a little bit old but that didn't stop it from being very clean and comfortable. I'd definitely stay here again. Really 0 complaints. Friendly staff too. We were able to arrive later too without any problems.

Germanywe recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel, and I must say, it exceeded our expectations! From the moment we stepped through the entrance, we were greeted with warm smile and good service. This hotel truly knows how to make guests feel special. They made sure we had all the information we needed for a comfortable stay and even provided some excellent recommendations for local attractions and dining options. The hotel's location was ideal, it is near Eifel national park attractions. I can only recommend Hotel Haus Salzberg garni.

GermanyVery friendly people working there. Hosts are perfect organized as a Team. The Bar war so cool with its vintage soccer bar charme, because it is possible to play cards there in the evening, take some drinks and also eat. The menues from the dinner card taste as good as from grandma (Fries are excellent!!). The rooms are nice with a awesome view into the mountains and very clean. The breakfast was great, because there was much high quality fruits and vegetables like straw- and blueberrys, Meat, eggs, Joghurts and also salmon. The sauna is another plus. All in all the price is totally fine for what we got. We will come back!

South AfricaNote it's a classic small town German hotel garni, everything is a bit old fashioned and not a modern hotel. But to us it was part of the experience!
Great location in Gemund, really nice breakfast. Very big apartment style rooms with everything you could need. Great views of Eifel from the big windows, warm and cozy.

United KingdomWe would have liked a little more space and the decor was a bit tired, but frankly these are fairly minor points and didn't spoil our stay.
This was a very good overnight stop. The room was comfortable and well equipped, The location was peaceful and quiet with views of the surrounding hills, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good indeed and they didn't mind hikers making up rolls for a packed lunch.

BelgiumThis was the best hotel on our four day hike in the Eifel. Very spacious and comfortable rooms. Nice view of the hills around the town. There is the option to have an evening meal (limited choices) which we really appreciated. It was simple but very tasty. The breakfast was very large, with enough healthy options as well (yoghurt and fruits). All staff was super friendly.

GermanyNothing to note here, great stay overall!
The hotel is a little ways up the hill, in a residential area a good distance from the old town, but it's worth the 10 min climb (even for hikers who have clocked lots of miles already). Since the neighborhood is residential, it is very quiet in the evening/at night. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, and offered a small dining menu on-site. The room was really more of a suite/small apartment with separate living area, bedroom and very large bathroom (the latter with plenty of hooks, shelves, and great lighting which is not to be taken for granted). The view from the living area was lovely. The breakfast buffet was delicious with plenty of fresh options and it was possible for hikers to self-prepare a lunch bag - thank you for this, this is very convenient. The decorations and some of the furniture are a bit on the older and more rustic side and the mixture a little eclectic, but this was actually quite charming. Would definitely stay here again and/or recommend to friends.

GermanyThe breakfast was a highlight - lots of good fruit, along with a large selection of cheese, cold meat, bread and jams, etc. We especially appreciated the personal attention of the owner, who made a point of connecting with her guests. She noticed that we preferred cow's milk to the normal German condensed milk in our coffee, and without our asking, brought in a milk jug for us.
