Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaGround floor entrance appearance is grungy, but not dirty or unsafe. Rooms are small but suited to travellers needing a place to stay and a base for sightseeing. There was no air conditioning (although we did not need it in our stay in early May). There was no room safe for valuables, although we did not feel unsafe or vulnerable.
This small hotel is a hidden gem, with fantastic views over the old city and splendid views up to the Heidelberg Schloss (castle) Once you get past the uninspiring entrance which is on the ground level of a parking garage and travel up to the 7th level, you appreciate the compact accommodation nestled on the roof of the garage, and take in the fabulous views of the Schloss from the rooftop terrace. We had lovely experiences eating breakfast on the terrace with these views, and had similar charming views over the rooftops of the Old Town. We were 1-2 minutes away from the centre of the Old Town- Kornmarkt or HauptMarkt areas, and the funicular railway up to the castle was on the ground level of our hotel. Amazing. The rooms were comfortable although compact, and breakfast was included in the rate- there was a good selection of breads, meats, cheeses, fruit etc for a typical and satisfying Continental breakfast. We would stay here again for the views and location, and can recommend this to others.

CanadaJust be aware that there is no air conditioning. A good fan would probably be helpful in the summer.
The hotel is in a great area for tourists! Close to everything! The terrace off our 2 bedroom apartment was lovely, and the view was fabulous. We sat there in the evening. The staff were very helpful and nice! Breakfast was good as well.

CanadaThe Breakfast room is limited in space which makes it more difficult to find a spot to breakfast. We could not use the patio due to the rain which made everything wet outside.
The location was great for walking around Heidelberg. On the patio, one can see the Castle on top of the hill which is impressive all lit up at night. Breakfast had good variety. The Hotel was actually on upper levels of Parking Garage, which was surprising.

United StatesBreakfast was just ok. Nothing special. Rooms were very basic with no extras of coffee, tea or bottled water. Floors and bathroom need a good clean.
Location on top of garage and under the castle is amazing. Close to all shops and restaurants. Service is very good. Very nice, kind staff at front desk and restaurant.

1. Location - close to the Schloss, the river, restaurants and right at the access to the funicular railway (a well worthwhile trip to get a panoramic view). 2. Parking in a multi-storey car park right underneath the hotel - with lift access - convenient and safe.

United KingdomExtremely friendly and helpful staff - we felt very welcome. Comfortable 2-bedroom apartment for us and our 2 children, and good continental breakfast included. The location cannot be beaten - right in the centre of the old town, and the no. 20 bus stop is outside the front door (for a 10-minute journey to the hauptbahnhof)

GermanyThe bathroom was tiny and rather old looking. No shampoo or shower gel. Several rooms are accessed directly from the breakfast room, so I would always request the castle side. Not the hotel's fault of course, but we found the car park very tricky - almost full, confusing signs, dead ends, narrow spaces.
Super location. We had a great castle view from our room (nr 18). The lift gives direct access to the hotel, the carpark, the train to the castle, and within a few metres the old town. Perfect situation for all the sights. Friendly staff, especially the young man who checked us in at 2pm on 2nd April. He went to so much trouble to explain all the tourist activities. Breakfast was fine. The roof-top terrace with castle view must be great in nice weather.
