Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe rooms are charmingly furnished but are a bit tiny.
Located right in the centre of all things historical, the hotel aspires to immerse its guests into a pseudo-Reformation-times atmosphere, with staff wearing period costumes and a room fittingly referred to as Schlafkammer, reception desk as Pförtnerey, etc. The portraits of Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora on the walls certainly add to the ambiance and this quasi-olden-times feel as well. You can see Saint Anne´s Church from your hotel window – and hear the gentle chime at around six o´clock every night. Breakfast is an excellent selection of cheeses, hams, local sausage varieties, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, bacon, muesli, jams, and so on. They can also make you an omelette or eggs sunny side up if you like. The wireless is functional enough to upload photos onto social media websites and share videos with friends if that is what you feel like doing.

United StatesThere is no elevator in the building, so keep that in mind, if that is necessary for you. The staff could have been a bit more attentive. However, I am not sure the few people working are to blame. It seems they are understaffed and overworked... I felt sorry for them. Parking is only possible for a fee either the hotel's or a public parking lot in front.
Good location on the edge of old town. Amazing medieval/Renaissance flair, down to the the staff dressed in costume. We indulged in dinner at the restaurant and it was a delight. Candle light as the only illumination for dinner and even for breakfast was a treat. Soup has to be slurped and the pointed clay cups for drinking simply fit into holes in the table, bread is broken, not cut. Make sure to drink enough, so you will have to use the bathroom, it's quite the site to experience... The hotel itself is pretty basic, but comfy. There was a water kettle, cups and a nice assortment of loose leaf teas in the room, which was a nice touch. Also, 2 bottles of water were provided at no additional charge (imagine that). One departure from "old times" was pretty advanced technology provided in the rooms.

CanadaOverworked staff. They certainly worked their butts off. These four individuals not only deserve a raise, but extra help would be beneficial for everyone. It was a packed house and the crowd was lively! And the four of them just kept running.
This place is amazing! It feels like we stepped back in time about 400 years, but with all the modern amenities (like flushing toilets and hot water). The staff is amazing. They all wear Period costumes. The restaurant is definitely the high point. The food is served as it was centuries ago. No soup spoons (but there are forks and knives). The glasses for beer or wine have no base, but simply fit into the holes in the table. Even the food is served in a spectacular fashion. Breakfast was amazing - even had a rustic honey comb. So authentic!

GermanyThere was no shampoo in the bathroom.
The hotel restaurant is a gem! The medieval feel and experience is absolutely unique. The concept for the menu and the total ambiance is amazing : tavern furniture, candles in the whole restaurant, clay pitchers, and music from Martin Luther’s time (15th century). The toilets also had a medieval touch... very entertaining. The breakfast was plentiful and very good. You could even request for an omelette, fried egg, and also waffles.

NetherlandsThe service during breakfast could have been better: an hour before the end of the breakfast slot there was no orange juice and hardly any bread, spreads and fillings left and the lady who was occupied cleaning the tables did not notice any of this. We noticed other guests experiencing the same inconvenience.
Nice quaint hotel with "medieval" touch near the centre of Eisenach. Good for a short stay. We did not try the restaurant but it looked great with the waiters in "period dress" to add to the authentic medieval feel of the place!

United KingdomSadly a very uncomfortable bed with ancient mattress and pillows. We had a top floor room (no lift) with a low sloping ceiling above the bed, and we cracked our heads on this several times.
