The bed was uncomfortable (too soft). I had a backache when I woke up the next morning. The carpeting in the hallway was faded and discolored. The hotel needs new carpets and mattresses.

The location was good. It was a short taxi ride from the main train station/Dom. The hotel is located on a side street in a nice urban area. My room was on the fourth floor and had no street noise. I felt safe walking around at night. The hotel lobby and the room were clean. Good WiFi. The bathroom had a towel warmer, a nice touch. The breakfast buffet had an extensive selection. The front desk personnel were very helpful. When the concierge called a taxi to take me to the airport, the taxi arrived almost immediately. Overall, a nice hotel.

The pillows were not so comfortable. There are some stairs before reaching the elevator, so bear it in mind in case you are coming with heavy luggage.

Disappointed to find no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms Surprised that the hotel did not advertise the local Christmas markets, there was no information, maps or any notices about them. This was the reason for our stay. Also nothing in english about the local bus/ tram services which would have been helpful.

The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, trays replenished very quickly. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and kept clean. Pleasantly surprised to find towels and hand soap available for free.

Unfortunately, the rooms do not have AC and even if the nights were cool, the rooms get really warm at night. The road side rooms are quite noisy at night.

A bit too warm at night (June 2023)

Room 632 was very good. I had enough space for more than 3-4 pieces of luggage and a spacious desk where I could work very well. The room was on the opposite side of the boulevard and was not noisy at all, very clean and with curtains that really block the light in the morning. The fridge and the clothes spaces were spacious.

Some of the public areas (the bar area etc) are starting to look a bit dated. Bar area could benefit from more seating and offering a place to wait for travelling companions.

As a regular visitor to this hotel, I find the hotel a perfect bolthole for the city. It always offers everything you need for a weekend stay in Cologne. Close to shops, amenities and public transport.
