How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There was a small staircase right from the door within the room, I didn’t mind but can be problematic for people with disabilities.
Super friendly staff!! A great welcome with a drink:-) Perfect location- a quiet and beautiful neighborhood next to Dammtor so centrally located. The room was cozy, clean and quiet. I was a single traveler so bed was for a single person, which was comfortable and sufficient. Breakfast was great. Also when you leave you get a present.

The building is a bit old with very creaky floors and the beds were not super comfortable but decent nonetheless.
Very friendly staff, good location and extremely clean renovated bathroom/shower.

It is not sound proofing at all .. even if someone is walking out of the room you can hear the steps
Old property but very clean , nice breakfast even with small variety of things .. nice place near dammtor station and very close from the centre even by foot is only 15 minutes walking

Place can feel a little dated. The shower temperature also fluctuated quite a bit.
Amazing staff. Reall refreshing to finally have a bathtub on one of my stays in Hamburg. Location was really good too.

WiFi was very poor in my room, connection was often lost. Hair dryer was not very efficient and overheated easily. I was also missing air conditioning on hot days...
Breakfasts were very good, large variety of products also changing slightly from day to day. Perfect location for people visiting Hamburg University, but also very close to city centre. Very kind personnel. My flight was significantly delayed, but I could still collect my keys from the "key-box".

No complaint
Beautiful old building divided into different hotels on every floor. A lift is provided. The area is the most beautiful in Hamburg, very exclusive neighbourhood. There are restaurants scattered but also a short walk to cafes, supermarket, hairdresser, ect. The staff are wonderfully kind, and delightful and go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect . It is also a 5 min walk to Dammtor Train station which has trains departing all over Germany and Europe.

You hear quite a lot through the room doors so when there is a vacuum cleaner on in the morning, it wakes you up.
The location is perfect. I asked for the room with the balcony and I got it, when I neeeded anything, the stuff was always helpfull. Breakfast was nice and the room was clean.

Accessing the floor where we needed to take the elevator (hotel is on the 3rd floor) was a bit of a hassle because of the stairs. We brought our stroller for the baby and had to carry it up and down every time we wanted to explore the city.

Single room was very small, it was sometimes hard to move inside the bathroom.
It was very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice with lots of variety of food. The location was perfect, just a one stop away from central station. Also there are nice restaurants and bars nearby the hotel, around Grindelhof area.

Breakfast is not good, especially on Sunday (only bread is available, no warm food etc.). Also there are stairs in the room, not convenient at all when travelling with heavy luggage

Our bathroom was tiny and difficult to use. As seniors we didn’t feel very safe getting in and out of the shower which was awkward.
Excellent location in a lovely part of Hamburg. Close to the railway. Helpful staff.

The bathroom is slightly small, but is the inconvenient of these old buildings, not much can be done.
the position is super strategic to visit Hamburg or to simply reach the job meetings via public service. Staff very nice, room and building really charming. super recommended

The bathroom was a bit small.
We liked the location near the beautiful park Planten un Blomen, and we could walk to the center of town.The area is quiet. Its very easy to park in front of the hotel. Excellent breakfast. The staff is friendly, and was helpful in giving us suggestions for supper.
