Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe bed is uncomfortable, and the room is dirty with spider webs and dusts everywhere. The bathroom is rundown with lots of molds. It’s quite hard to sleep with the loud people walking in the corridors. :(
The staff are helpful and accommodating, and the sheets and towels seems clean.

It was cheap. There was a sink in the room. The beds were clean and so was the room.

NetherlandsThis is truly a hostel you should only book because of the superb location. Other than that, it's not clean (hairs and dirt in the sink, the toilet seat was disgusting even though they put a pamphlet in your room saying everything was 'disinfected'). The shower head was very scaly and the shower itself was tiny and uncomfortable. The room was also very noisy and my balcony door wouldn't close shut so you hear traffic and partying people all night. The balcony also connected to the next room, so you couldn't open the door for fresh air because the people in that room could just walk in. The window didn't open at all. The room was extremely hot when I got back at night. For the same price of a single private room here, I've stayed in much, much better places (also in large cities). Staff at check-in was extremely disinterested and not very friendly. I would not go here again.
Location is absolutely great. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the convenient night lights in the wall. The wifi works great.

GermanyThe 4th floor is decrepit and just plain dirty. Broken toilets, sink in shared bathroom clogged and full to the brim with disgusting water for the duration of our stay. Sticky floors and walls in the room.
Great location, comfortable beds (for a hostel)

GermanyOur room didn‘t have any trash bins and we couldn‘t open the windows which forced us to keep our main door open, so we could get at least a little bit of fresh air. The bathroom light would flash randomly when turned off. The bathroom mirror was full of backsplash from the sink. The bathroom door handle looked like it was about to fall off just by one touch. There was next to no toilet paper.
Easy check in / out, the rooms had everything necessary besides the missing bin.

DenmarkBuilding was complicated, our room was facing another building and bed-pillow weren't comfy.During the night, first our sleep was interrupted by someone forcing our door to open and shortly later we have woken up by fire alarm at 2 a.m and had to wait outside for half and hour because of fire. It was scary and too unfortunate for one night.
We had private bathroom for just 40 dkk more and we liked the towels and cleanliness.

GermanyA&O staff must think on couples needs vs the groups needs. My girl had to wait outside the room 3 times while I was going up and down to the front desk to switch the "non working" cards. The problem was the door of the room.
The location of A&O is great (Party/Reeperbahn) but the original room the front desk gave us (Eddie) was terrible. A door that did not open with the card, the floor is not straight! it is not leveled!, the room had 2 separated beds and when I moved it to be together with my girl...the floor under the bed was disgusting. After 3 changes of cards to try unsuccessfully to open the door, the front desk person from the next shift switched our room to another which was exactly what we needed.

GermanyThe room wasn't that comfortable and not really that clean, but it wasn't dirty either. However the shower curtain definitely needs to be changed, it was moldy. I forgot my laptop charger under the bed and i called the same day i checked out and i explained exactly where I left it in the room. The room wasn't booked by any other guest or anything but the charger was gone. I am a bit mad about that to be honest, because I asked the staff to look for it and offered to come by the next day to pick it up. But they couldn't find it.
The staff was nice and the location was ok. I wouldn't recommend it in a regular situation. Due to corona restrictions Reeperbahn wasn't that busy and that was good. Otherwise I assume it would have been too loud and too crowded. For the price i paid my stay was fine.
