Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe reception desk is hidden all the way at the back of the hotel. Upon arrival, there was no sign and no one to greet us at the entrance to let us know that the little desk upon entry wasn't the reception, my mother had to go out to explore while I stood at the front with our luggage to wait. In total I stood there waiting around 10-15 minutes. The room service menu is very limited.
We really liked the size of the rooms and the independence that the size and room facilities allowed. With two bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, etc. it allowed us to use the room to rest, work, relax, and eat

NetherlandsThe room feels like an apartment, too big kitchenette and hall. Room feels like a 20 sqm hotel room because of Floorplan.
The atmosphere and the location are great. Support is also very nice.

United StatesOnly problem was the staff shortage, but due to Corona a lot of hotels and restaurants in Germany are suffering from this problem currently. Regardless, the staff was very friendly, helpful and professional.
I think The Wellem is one of the best new hotels in Germany, up there with The Fontenay in Hamburg and The Beyond by Geisel in Munich. Spectacular location in a former court house right in the middle of Altstadt, walking distance to everything that matters in Düsseldorf. We got an upgrade to an Executive suite, which had high ceilings, large windows and a fully equipped kitchen. Breakfast was high quality, unfortunately we couldn't try the restaurant, which looked very inviting. We would have stayed longer if we had had more time.

GermanyStaying at The Wellem is an experience I'm surely looking forward to repeating. The room (Balcony Business Suite) is absolutely comfortable, beautiful and quiet. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, where an impressive fully restored Gericht meets modern art with its greatest names - a surprise in every corner. A charming bar, restaurants for every wish, location couldn't be better. The staff is the best, and I have to make a special comment here: the doorman Bachir is also a highlight during the stay, very, very friendly and a good chat! A real entertainer! If you're in doubt where to stay in Düsseldorf, don't be anymore: The Wellem is *the place* for that special weekend or for a longer vacation! In the middle of the Düsseldorfer fun!

GreeceBreakfast typical, nothing funcy, but the staff of the Breakfast very polite..You can have much much better breakfast even in Bulgaria in a similar hotel.....The food is a disaster in the hotel in both restaurants and also in the lobby..First 5 stars hotel i stayed without serving a french toast or a club sandwich for the kids.....There wasnt a covered area that you can smoke a cigaretee and enjoy your cofee or your beer without freezing. For the price that i have paid , i could go to Mykonos in a suite for the same days in July
Excellent location of the hotel in the main road of the Old city. Nice and comfortable rooms with floor heating and big bathrooms, very spacious...Very polite staff , especially the Non Germans employees of the Hotel..But with this price you can stay 10 days in Maldives or in Mauricious in a flying Suite over the ocean

NetherlandsThe staff at the reception wasn’t very competent. During day 1, at some point a member of the staff entered our room without even knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell, just like it was his own home. The public washroom in the hall didn’t even have toiler paper, which is just outrageous considering the staggering price we paid for the room. The staff in general was arrogant and not customer-focused, especially in the bar area. On day 2, another member of the staff opened our door and entered our room to deliver something without even bothering knocking on the door, again. When I reported this violation to the reception, the person supposed to support us tried to justify that incident and even suggested that we should come back to the hotel. Which is never going to happen, I wouldn’t go back to this hotel even if they paid me for that.

LithuaniaOne thing they need to improve IMMEDIATELY is the air conditioning system in the rooms. It's not possible to set the temperature below 20°C, and at night, it becomes uncomfortably warm in the rooms. We were unable to sleep for all three nights. The staff appeared relaxed and did not attend to guest requests attentively. We asked a staff member to prepare an invoice with company data, but the invoice was not prepared.
Excellent location with well-equipped rooms. Good access to old town. Nice enviroment.

United KingdomMy check-in experience was dreadful. Only one member of staff was on duty and I had to wait 30 minutes before I could be seen. In addition, although it says in the t&cs that you can have a late check-out at weekends until 6pm this is not at all a given. I had to ask 3 staff members and reconfirm twice even though it had been agreed as my key card had been deactivated. I had asked for a room with a balcony and although agreed in an email beforehand I wasn’t given a room with a balcony. It was disappointing considering the high price tag
The hotel is in a great location and despite the partying at the weekends you really can’t hear anything inside the hotel
