Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWell, the bathrooms can use a lock and an inside towel hanger, if you travelling with friends, one cannot expect any privacy.
The location was nice, everything was very nearby. St. Pauli Street is near and all the party areas are nearby, nice for a weekend stay.

EstoniaRooms are bit out dated and smelled bit like someone smoked in room, also someone next room smoked on the window, so my room filled with cigaret smell in the morning. Breakfast includes cold tabel where you could make a sandwich.
Location was good as it was close to convention I intended. Parking was 8€ per night, what I think is a good price compared to some other options.

United KingdomNothing. It had everything we expected in a budget hotel.
My son and I wanted somewhere to sleep two nights when we came to Hamburg to visit the Miniatur Wunderland. This Ibis Budget Hotel did the job. It was warm, clean, had comfortable beds and was reasonably priced. Also, the shower was one of the best I have ever experienced in a hotel at any price!

United Kingdom-The air-con didnt work, but you could open the window which was nice as some hotels dont have this feature. -No fridge in the room but that isnt much of an issue.
-The staff were very friendly, made us feel comfortable and at home. They also amended our booking which was nice of them. -The location is great, just outside the main street which made it convenient. It is also a 5 min walk from the train station. -The bed is comfortable and the option to have a bunk bed is funky. -The fact the shower is seperate from the toilet is convenient.

United KingdomThe room, although adequately sized, was extremely basic. Just know what you are getting with Ibis Budget! Also, because it overlooked the street, with the window open as necessary for temperature control, it was relatively noisy.
The staff were very friendly and hard-working.

GermanyThe rooms are quite austere and the beds are kinda uncomfy. Staff failed to let us know about the reduced rate for parking onsite as a hotel guest and we ended up overpaying for parking by quite a bit.
Good location, not far from Grosse Freiheit or the harbor. Parking onsite. Reasonable rate. Staff was friendly.

PolandOur room was extremely small for 3 people, no place for bags or even hang the coats, the most annoying thing: no usb or standard electric socket to charge the mobile next the beds so if you e.g. sleep on “upper” bed you cannot plug and charge your device at all. Sink is directly in the room (no separated bathroom) and shower in the kind of “closet” - you have to almost walk naked in the room - no place to get dressed after/before shower…
Very good location helpful staff and good price, good for short stay

FinlandIt was a bit unfortunate to have a single bed sheet for two people. It does indeed feel like a "budget" version of a standard Ibis: the interior design is fairly low-end.
The hotel is a bit off the city centre and is practically located on an intersection between touristy spots of the centre and Old-Altona, with interesting places right around the corner. It's also easy to reach the Elbe with its promenade, so recommended for people who prefer walking through the city and this way exploring it.

GermanyUnfortunately the room I was given had bed bugs - I was bitten several times and found multiple examples not long after I was in bed. This is remarkable given the Ibis brand. The staff were very helpful and found an alternative room at the neighbouring hotel, and I hope that the room and bed were well cleaned. The problem was dealt with swiftly, but it is questionable how such a bed bug population came to be. The room itself is very basic and perhaps even more basic than one may think when imagining the Ibis Budget brand
The staff were friendly and professional, and thanks to them we were able to find a quick and good solution (see under). The location is great. I did not buy the breakfast so I cannot comment on that
