Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe booked thinking it would be a cosy Christmassy stay but the hotel was quite austere. The bathroom wasn’t very well cleaned. We were surprised that the restaurant only provided a buffet (we hadn’t been told in advance) which wasn’t the best for vegetarians but the food was very tasty
A lovely location in an historic building.

DenmarkThe staff, except for the nice gentleman at the front desk, were very ill equipped to be in a service related position. Very slow, little to no English, unable to keep the food / drinks stocked. The lady at the little boutique was so incredibly lackluster in her job. No, response to my hello, no thank you for my purchase, barely a peep was made. It’s really a shame because the place could be a gold mine, but we would not return based on how poorly run it is.
Beautiful location, very peaceful. Lovely room.

CanadaThe service and communication could have been better. I booked a room for my parents and when asked if they could check in 1 hour early since they had a 4 hour drive and are 79 years old, I only received the answer that this could not be promised. I found this very poor. Also, it was not communicated that the price didn't include breakfast. I would have liked to see that on the booking page.
The location is very nice

GermanyAlthough the room and beds were really comfortable we found the pillows to be really soft and only one pillow per a side. I think it would be better to have two pillows per a side or at least have spare pillows available in the cupboard.
We managed to get a great deal on the business double room. Highly recommendable. The staff were very friendly. The hotel is an old Monastery which makes for an interesting location, you can walk around the grounds and see the various sites; The Old Church, The Herbs garden, The Bee houses and wild deer among others. The breakfast buffet was also good with a big selection of food to choose from.

United KingdomThe rooms were quite echoey, and though I had requested a quiet room they put a family with a young child next door to me. Luckily I had my earplugs with me so that I did manage to get a decent night's sleep.
What a fantastic place to stay! The historic building was impressive, and so was the atmosphere. One really special thing: they had loose leaf tea for breakfast. A wonderful treat.

United StatesThere is a restaurant related to the property. As it’s the closest place for food we went there to eat. We had walked from Goslar to the Kloster and didn’t want to walk further into Vienenburg to look for dinner and then walk back. With COVID, there’s no indoor dining. I tried to explain that outdoor dining is difficult for me as a lot of smokers often light up their cigarettes and makes me cough. The waitress basically chased us out of the restaurant indoor area even though someone else accommodated me. The message from the wait staff was too bad if you don’t want to sit outside, you can go else where. In the end, we sat as far away from some smokers and ate as quickly as possible. I guess they don’t get a lot of English speaking guests as the staff didn’t understand English. We used translation app to communicate. If you don’t speak German, make sure you have a translation app for dining in the restaurant.
The fact that it used to be a monastery, and the various operating brewery buildings in the compound. I booked a basic room with breakfast and the breakfast is absolutely worth it. The eggs are from the chickens in the compound. Thanks to Booking.com, we got an upgrade to a nicer room. It’s clean, quiet and a gem. The staff were outstanding. They helped me call a couple of places to confirm reservations in other Klosters. That’s excellent customer service.

GermanyWe felt rather isolated without any great personal attention or enthusiasm for the local surroundings from reception. And at times the hotel felt a bit spartan. More imagination could be invested in turning it into a more welcoming environment.
The ‘Kloster’ seemed impressive and situated in a picturesque setting, but really only with a car. But we had a lovely comfortable room and could relax.

UkraineWonderful place! The hotel is located in the previous ancient monastery, has great views and a big territory. There are a restaurant, liquor production, a field with plants, a small zoo with roe deer, bees and chickens. The staff was very helpful and friendly, we arrived after the check-in time, but our key was waiting for us in a code-box. The room was comfortable, clean and big enough for two. Breakfast was rich and mega tasty. We will definitely come back!
