Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Germanyfor the price I expected a really nice hotel but it just wasn’t… sexy. the hotel is close to the central station but the area feels rather industrial and is really loud. so you did have to choose between a rather stuffy room or fresh air and loud noise. the drinks in the minibar was a nice touch but there wasn’t a bottle opener… on purpose.
it was clean. minibar was free. the crew was really nice and friendly.

DenmarkA few of the staff members at reception had a hard time speaking English. English isn’t my first language either, but it is the “international travel language” and it’s important for staff at at hotel to be able to speak it (in my opinion). Otherwise it is very difficult to communicate with foreign guests. The hotel asked that we would tell them in advance what time we would like to have breakfast the next day. This was not a problem on the first 2 days. But when we wanted to let the staff know what time we would like to eat for the last day, we were told by a receptionist that we would only be able to have breakfast either really early (7.30) or quite late (10.30). This surprised us as we were not informed that there would be a limited number of breakfast spots, and the available times didn’t match our plans for the day. In the end it worked out because they had room for us at the requested time (9 am) but better communication in this regard would have been nice. There were a few long black hairs both in the shower and on the floor next to the wc when we arrived in the first day. Not the worst in terms of cleaning, but not as nice as it could be.
Most of the staff were super nice and helpful! like the awesome guy a reception with amazing nails who spoke perfect English! He was really helpful. Or the girl who showed us to our seats each morning for breakfast! She was super sweet and friendly. The room had plenty of space for 3 people and the beds were comfy. The breakfast buffet was super nice with a big selection! And it tasted great. There is a bus right outside the hotel that drives downtown and through central Hamburg.

FinlandThe area is not far from the central railway station, but without grocery shops or restaurants nearby. The fee of 30€ for the dog was a bit high, considering the price of the room.
