Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandBedroom was way too hot to be in April only, and air ventilation did not really help (no A/C, one window could only be tilted, also not helping). Our bedroom had a windowless shower and toilet that were hotter than the room. The toilet had no sink, so you had to move to the shower to was your hands. No good pillows.

NetherlandsNothing to comment, everything is excellent.
Location is close (+/- 50 m) to the U-bahn station, however for wheelchair users the elevator building is located on the opposite direction. There are not many restaurant to find in the neighbourhood of the hotel. Hotel is provided with parking garage underneath the building, easy to reach.

DenmarkThe hotel is a bit non-descript in terms of decor. It is good, practical, sensible but not outstanding.
Practial location right at a metro that takes you into the center in a few minutes. Lovely view of the harbour for rooms on the water side.

Germany1. The corner of furnitures (desk, sink) has sharp edge, this needs to be changed into rounded curve bcs kids can bump into them! 2. When we were playing in the playground, big kids were disrupting the small ones and giving bad examples. You need to ban kids age 7+ to enter the playground to make it safe for the younger kids.
The hotel has indoor playground, suitable for age 2+. The bedroom is clean and equipped with basic amenities. Each bedroom has a map of worlds harbour with explanation of it, educational and interesting to read. Very creative design!

TurkeyThe location is pretty nice. The subway station is just infront of the door. Breakfast was more than enough. The eggs were fantastic, they were probably baked in hot coffee beans and the state of it was exactly the apricaot.

United StatesHotel parking isn't the cheapest and navigating the garage might be problematic for some drivers with larger cars. Street parking is limited, especially during daytime as there are multiple construction areas around.
Good breakfast in buffet style with a wide variety of offerings, the coffee machines could be intimidating. We also enjoyed dinner buffet at the restaurant one night, but we were the only dinner guests for ~1h, kind of sad as the locations and food is good and staff is very friendly. We picked the location due to the location, and were not disappointed. There's also a subway (u-bahn) station right in front of the hotel, or 20min walk to the Hamburg main train stations. Now, this hotel is very family friendly with an indoor playroom and an indoor playground, and two more playgrounds around the the hotel. The large lobby allows to spend time away from the hotel room with multiple seating areas as well.

Japanlack of cleanliness. Looks like some lint from the quilt. We asked the staff to clean it, but the staff just simply made up the bed, with unhappy face and a tsk tsk sound, not trying to clean it up.
A great family-friendly city hotel. My daughter loved the place a lot, as she can ride a balance bike inside the hotel. There are 2 playgrounds inside too.

United StatesI hadn't realized this was advertised as a "family friendly" hotel. There were kids and bikes roaming all over the lobby.
Hotel posted the best time frames to have breakfast which was much appreciated. We were able to avoid the many families with small children.

United KingdomLots of noisy children running around in the bar area in the evening.
Fantastic location in modern Hafen City on the riverside, with terrace. Clean, modern hotel with lots of space, a bar and a restaurant. Walking distance to Elbphilharmonie, also restaurants and shops. Underground train station is literally at the front door of the hotel.

United KingdomThe room was perfect for us as a couple, but gave some concerns when putting a 2.5yr old energetic toddler into the mix! The minimalist look was nice, but the bedside tables were small and kept getting picked up and moved. Lovely spacious room, but this meant the toddler wanted to run around lots and the wood flooring meant he was slipping easily. The sofa bed was also a little high and I was worried about him falling out. A travel cot was provided too, but he was a bit big for that. Usually these are things I wouldn't even think about, but facilities take a different spin now. All of that said, this was a wonderful hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay on future trips to Hamburg.
Lovely hotel which we booked for it's child centred facilities. Meal times were made easier by having plastic crockery and small cutlery available. Great breakfast choice and lots of space. The play areas were fantastic, although at 2.5yrs my little was a bit small for the big play area and not so interested in the small area. Room was spacious, clean and staff were friendly and helpful when we asked anything of them. Location was perfect for us as we wanted to be close to Miniatur Wunderland and Hafen City. If you're happy to walk, the main shopping and Christmas markets were only about 30 minutes walk and a relatively direct route. Otherwise there is a U-bahn station right outside the hotel entrance.
