Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyAs in other reviews, the biggest downside was the mattress, I am sad to say they are pretty thin and really uncomfortable. If you are gonna stay just a few nights probably is gonna be ok, but after a full week, I started being quite in discomfort sleeping, and waking up with my back not in good shape. That's a pity, cause for the rest the overall experience was great, also compared to other hostels I have stayed in the past. Also small note: there are no plugs in the whole bathroom, so you need to blow dry your hair in the dorm, but obviously in a dorm, people don't follow the same schedule, so I ended up not washing my hair if there were people sleeping, but this limited a bit my freedom of organizing.
I booked a full week in the female dorm: DORMS: I was positively surprised, photos don't do justice to the dorms: I was a bit worried reading online they are in the basement, and there were no lockers visible in any photo online at the time I booked, but the room was very spacious and full of light and big windows, lockers are really big, and are structured vertically as a wardrobe, so you can actually hang your clothes, plus have multiple shelves, which is in my experience uncommon in hostels. POSITION: The position is also great, is a few minutes by foot to the central train station, which connects to most public transportation, but is still in a really green area, (there is a big park all around it) so it was really safe, also at night, and it's really quiet with no traffic noise at any time. BATHROOMS: The bathroom has a lot of "stations", like 4 sinks 4 toilets and 4 showers, toilets, and showers are single enclosed in stalls, shower stalls also have space to change and hang your stuff, so during my stay, I never had to wait to use any, instead it was not uncommon to be the only one in the whole bathroom. You can rent really cheap (1,5€ for all stay) a decent and big towel. STAFF: The reception is open 24/24 so there was always at least one person on the staff available, and was possible to have something to drink or eat at any time. All people on the staff are always friendly and helpful. BREAKFAST: Breakfast is maybe the biggest positive point, I didn't book it at first but ended up having it all days (you can also pay each time if you are not sure you are gonna have it all days of your stay). For 11€ there is an all-you-can-eat buffet really satisfyingly supplied, also with fresh fruit and vegetables, with plenty of options, especially salty ones, which I prefer. All rooms, bathrooms, and linens were clean.

FranceThese are very personal observations that do not penalize the stay: lack of door at shower box, but this is common in Europe; curtains reduce light from outside, but do not block it completely.
The hotel is easy to find and is 10 minutes from the central station where we can travel everywhere by train and metro. There are several bus stops nearby too. The environment is very friendly. There is a cafe at reception where we can have a hot drink (tea, coffee, chocolate) or even a refreshing drink (water, soda, beer) which is very convenient. They have a small games room for children to keep them busy while you sort out the last details before starting your tour. The breakfast is quite fair. The restaurant is open for lunch too.

GermanyI was expecting a room with two beds and I was given a room with three beds, two of which one above the other. One has to get used to this. I found the breakfast not being worth the price charged for it
the place is very conveniently located close to Hauptbahnhof at a five to ten minutes walk distance. It belongs to Berliner Stadtsmission which is a Church organisation caring for those in need and this makes it special and different from normal hotels and hostels, it is located inside of a small park surrounded by apartment buildings and, as such, even in the middle of the city, it is absolutely quiet at night.

AustriaSchool groups also book this facility so if you're unlucky, you can have a group making a lot of noise at night in the corridors and rooms above. Price was quite high for a 4 bed hostel room with private bathroom (no kitchen and living facilities).
Very comfortable beds and good shower in private bathroom. Location is about 15 minutes walk from Berlin Hauptbahnhof and public transport links. 24 hr reception.

PolandThe Bible on the table was quite unnecessary. Also, the top bunk bed has a low railing, so might be a bit risky for kids to sleep at due to risk of falling down when squirming at night (but the kids loved it anyway).
It's a great place for a family trip to Berlin. Close to the main train station, zoo, the Museum of Natural History to name a few. Room was modest but nice, clean and fairly spacious. The canteen is really nice with good breakfast with a variety of choice and everything fresh and tasty. There is also a lovely playroom for kids with big blocks to build forts and a slide. For this price in Berlin it's a perfect choice.
