Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe room was better than expected, we booked a 'double private room' however it was a full dormitory. Which was just for us, however we were still in bunkbeds. Didn't seem to be any other females staying here so I never had to wait to use the shared bathroom, which was good as there was only 1 shower on the ground floor. The room didn't smell, however the rest of the building, corridors etc smelt terribly of smoke which was horrible. Luckily we didnt have to use the kitchen as this also looked really dirty. Mattresses were comfortable though and bedding smelt fresh.

PolandOne of the cheapest place to stay in Hamburg. Room was ok, but the toilets little bit dirty. They need renewal. Everybody cook there (plenty of seasonal polish, romanian and bulgarian workers), so on the corridors you can smell the chicken and fat hard ;) Overal, good place to stay for 1 or 2 nights.

Czech RepublicThere wasn't in the room clean foor. The floor was like it was glued. 🙁 Also the shared bathroom was not clean, but that was caused by another guests, they were workers from Ukraine and Poland.
This type of acomodation is for guests who are looking for cheap sleeping. This hostel is appropriate for only one od two nights.

LuxembourgALL !!! We travel a lot and this one won the worst place we’ve ever stay, the room was super stink, and it supposed to be a non smoking room but this one smells of Tabacco and there is no way to open the window coz it’s block the strong dirty smell makes you want to sleep outside. The building in general is dirty and we got scared of the people who are staying there. It is not the ideal for travelers and tourist. Cockroach everywhere, Dirty Linens. For 90€ per night, it is really not worthy. Not recommended at all.

PolandThis place is occupied mainly by labourers from Balkans, so being a woman there was a scary experiance. There was no distinction between men's and women's bathroom, men were using both, probably because women visit the place so rarely. Common areas in the building, especially bathrooms, were very messy. The room smelled of paint and the furnitures were usable but visibly damaged.

GermanyIt was the worst hotel in Europe. I booked a single room with shared bathroom (that I didn't use). In the bathroom I saw broken soap staff (you can see it in the photo) without soap, so I couldn't wash my hands. Only in the morning I found the soap in the shower room. In the evening the bathroom was so dirty with some hairs after shaving. As I understood men go to the ladies room, because one man tried to come in when I was there. They didn't have a towel, though even if you book a bed in the shared room you have the towel. I saw only men in my floor and it looks like they are living there all time. They looked at me with interest and it wasn't comfortable for me. My room was a first in the floor next to the kitchen, so in the morning was a little noisy and I woke up every 30 minutes And I payed for this room 87 euro, that super expensive for this

CroatiaCurtains on the windows would be nice to have, so the light won't bother people sleeping next to the window.

PolandThe bathroom walls/ceiling would use some refurbishment (and new ventilation), key check out would use some new stickers that they need to go there.
Very comfortable bed, Parking space at the place, plenty of shops around for food. Close to train station. showers were clean and water pleasantly warm. Kitchen had what necessary appliances to prepare food.

LuxembourgWhen we got there there was nobody to give us the room key, nor had they sent us any code to retrieve it from a box. We had to call by phone to 4 different telephone numbers until someone picked up and told us a code we could use to get the key. In any case, that was the least of the problems of this hostel…there was an unpleasant smell and what was really horrible was that the room was infested with cockroaches….they were tiny ones and everywhere…we killed around 10 and can’t imagine how many more there were! Definitely not recommend to stay there! Avoid!
